My project only has four characters, but I have a lot of busts made up for each, with differing facial expressions to convey better how the character feels about whatever may be happening during dialogue/cutscenes. I also have "eyes closed" versions of each because I was hoping to add in a "blinking" feature. What would be the best way to do that?
As of now I'm using the Show Picture/Erase Picture feature, but if a plugin would help, I'd be willing to use one.
Making character busts blink during dialogue events?

I believe there's already a plugin around that does this. Did you search?

I did, the only plugin I found was SumRndmDde's Blinking Faces plugin, which from the looks of it only makes faces selected in the textbox blink. What I'm going for are busts displayed separately from the text box, but at the same time in the same event.

My 'more escape codes' plugin, shipped with MV, should do that for you. You can use faces or busts, but I don't think the busts are done as pictures.

I'll try it!

you will have to add escape codes to the text box for when you want the image to change. It's not something that's timed and automatic.

I figured out a system that probably works for me! I followed this tutorial and made a bunch of switches and corresponding parallel common events for each character and expression. So while eventing dialogue/cutscenes, I turn on the switch for the character and emotion I need and the common event kicks in. Each character will have their own image number as well to keep them from overwriting each other. When I want a bust to go away or when I finish the event, finish it off with Turn off X switch and Erase X image.
