What do you mean generator folder? You mean where the Generated characters save? It's under the "img" folder.
-
No, he means the one where generator files are stored.
Right?
I have never used a mac so I can't help here :p -
Yup, that's what I was talking about. No, he means the one where generator files are stored.

Well, I can give genearl advice.
Is there a normal folder programs are installed? Inside it should be a folder called KADOKAWA, and in that, RPGMV, and then Generator.
Might not work, again, i've never used a Mac. Ever.
If you have it on Steam, right click MV in steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> Browse Local Files -
Tried both of those methods but I still can't find any folder called generator.Well, I can give genearl advice.

Did you get to the progam folder?
'generator' should be inside it.

Unless it's different in mac in which case, good luck! -
Yea, the weird thing is there are two separate folders for it on MAC, neither have a folder called Generator.Did you get to the progam folder?

Are you using the steam version? Then open steam properties of RMMV and select "local files" there
-
It's here: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/RPG Maker MV/RPG Maker MV.app/Contents/MacOS/Generator
To get there easily, open a finder window from your dock, hit cmd+shift+G and paste that location in. When you click 'Go' it'll take you right there! -

I know this is an old post,
but I had the same problem on my Mac.
Thank you very much! I've been looking all over for a solution to my problem! -
Hey I tried following that path and still couldn't find it. I can only get as far as
/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/RPG Maker MV
I don't see the rest of the folders. Can't find the generator. -
Directories aren't always folders.Hey I tried following that path and still couldn't find it. I can only get as far as

~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/RPG Maker MV/RPG Maker MV.app/Contents/MacOS/Generator
Notice that it says .app, but you can't open folders inside an app, right?
Right click the <Rpg Maker MV.app> application in the <Rpg Maker MV> folder and click <Open Package Contents>. There, you'll find the <Contents> folder. Keep going from there. -
I don't even see an app there. I have both MV and MZ, but I'm wanting to use MV's generator... If I go to "local files" for MZ, the generator folder is right there, but when I do the same for MV, this is what I see:
The first two folders have a few .js files in them, the dlc folder contains random assets, and the "tool" folder contains GENE, MADO, and SAKAN folders that each contain another .exec file named "Locale." My current work-around is that I have Windows installed in Bootcamp on another MacBook, and after installing Stream / MV on that one, the generator is pretty easy to find, just like it is for MZ... But I've looked at every thread I can find on the subject and I still haven't found it on my Mac.
If the "app" you're referring to is the PROJECT FILE for an RPG Maker project, then I don't know how you're supposed to "open package contents" because there is no such option when I right-click on it. I have no clue what other app you could be referring to. -
EASY FIX!!! While I still haven't EVER discovered the original location of a Generator folder, I purchased a character generator pack this morning during the big Steam sale that's going on, and while on my Mac I chose to allow all of my purchases to be automatically installed... I wasn't sure if I would have to dig up the DLC contents and transfer them to my PC or not, but when I went to browse the local files from the Steam Library menu (same one in the screenshot of my previous post) I found a newly created Generator folder! The weird thing is that it contains ONLY the female parts that I just purchased - there are no Male or Kid folders at all - but the purchased parts do appear in the generator and seem to work just as they're supposed to.
I'm not sure how Steam automatically made this work because I was under the assumption (with MV at least, I think they changed this with MZ) that new parts had to be added with file names that numerically follow the parts already installed -- and I can't even tell what number that should be, because those original parts are still not visible anywhere... I also don't know if adding a new Male and Kid folder inside of the Generator folder will work as intended, or if manually creating your own Generator folder in this location (i.e., without purchasing a generator pack and having Steam make it for you) will function the same way either; I'm assuming they should, but again, I don't know where to begin with numbering the file names because I can't find the files that are already in the generator.
With a bit of experimenting I may figure this out and update this thread again, because so far it looks like this might be a solution for some people, albeit with the downside that you MIGHT have to pay for a generator pack. If you're stuck like I was and feel it's worth trying, pick up a cheap pack while they're on sale! -
That's not true, at least not in the latest version of RPGMaker MV, so I suspect it was fixed in one of the MV updates. I couldn't tell you which one though.I'm not sure how Steam automatically made this work because I was under the assumption (with MV at least, I think they changed this with MZ) that new parts had to be added with file names that numerically follow the parts already installed -- and I can't even tell what number that should be, because those original parts are still not visible anywhere...
Also, if there's no Generator folder in there, I'm pretty sure it means your MV install is damaged and you should tell Steam to fix it. (But note that if you've manually added anything there, you should back it up first in case fixing it includes deleting the extra stuff.) -
I might try that, but I'm not so sure that it's actually damaged... My generator exists in the game and works perfectly, so the files have to exist SOMEWHERE.
-
that is because MacOS hides program folders in a way that requires a keyboard override to access. While I still haven't EVER discovered the original location of a Generator folder
what you see as an app on MacOS is in reality a folder, not a program. The program and all its files are inside that folder structure, but MacOS regularly forbids you access to that folder.
Only if you hold one of the special keys (don't remember which one, apple, control, select or whatever) while clicking on the app, you get an additional context option asking you if you wish to explore the inside of the app folder.
and only if you do this you'll find things like the character generator and its parts. -
I'm aware of that, in fact my previous comment repeated some of that information (which has already been stated further up in this thread) but I edited some of it out to avoid being redundant... I looked into this on quite a few forums and threads before coming here, and read several people's solutions that involve making those library paths visible -- but even after doing so, the folder / app still can't be found on my Mac where everyone else is finding it; The screen shot I shared earlier is the correct location where it should be, but it's not there:
That's the exact location shown in my screenshot...Hey I tried following that path and still couldn't find it. I can only get as far as
/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/RPG Maker MV
I don't see the rest of the folders. Can't find the generator.
King Tempest replied:
Nope, it's not there. I can't follow those directions to browse inside the .app because there isn't one.Directories aren't always folders.
