MV - Large lily/lotus pads

  1. I'm looking for some large lilypad tiles to spice up a lake map. The MV RTP already has lilypad autotiles in both the Dungeon and Outside tilesheets, but I want some larger ones that can be walked on – a lilypad filling the entire tile, or 2x2 tiles (preferably both sizes), including both with and without flowers.

I found this, which is perfect in theory, but there are several issues with it:

    * Because it's made for VX Ace, which uses a different tile size, the medium-sized pads would need to be resized. (The largest ones, which would've been 3x3 tiles in VX Ace, fit perfectly in 2x2 MV tiles.)
    * I'm not sure if this is because it's made for VX Ace, but it doesn't mesh very well with the MV lilypads. I actually tried it out; even the largest one seems more pixellated than the MV RTP.
    * The terms of service, according to the translation here, appear to be possibly incompatible with commercial use. I admit I'm a bit unsure on the meaning of "doujin" though; perhaps my work does fall under that category, I'm not sure.

I do own VX Ace since I got it from an RPGMaker bundle awhile ago (though I've never actually installed it), so that's not a problem by itself. I also own XP (from the same bundle) as well as MV and MZ.

The large pads would be intermingled with these autotiles form the MV RTP:

So, something in a similar style would be ideal.

Just in case I wasn't clear enough, I'm looking for a tilesheet, not "character" sprites (as the earlier link has both); and I am using MV.
  2. On my phone, but there are these:
    蓮・睡蓮・水芭蕉
Ooops, saw that you found it... Can't you work with the really large ones scaled down?
  3. Yes, provided the terms of use are okay, I can work with those ones. But I was wondering if there are better ones available that better match the MV RTP. Plus, I'm not sure if the terms of use are okay.
  4. I also found these. I think they don't fit very well with RTP (though I'll probably try them out briefly), but in case someone else is also looking for lily or lotus pads and finds this thread, I thought it would be useful to mention them.

I'll very likely end up using the noir-et-blanc ones and just encrypt the game (which I'd really prefer not to do, but I guess I don't have a choice if I use those). Still, I'm going to leave this thread open (and keep searching periodically) in the hopes that something better surfaces.
  5. I know you started out with MV's water lilys, but given that MZ that is the current gen I try to only do smallish things with MV bases and tried to expand the default MZ water lilys to a set (plus recoloring the flowers cause they are aweful by default).

Terms are as in my MZ thread.

  6. Oh, those look pretty nice! They feel kinda like a mix of the MV and MZ versions. I guess they're not autotilable like the RTP ones, but the auto-tiling kinda looks bad anyway for stretches that are a single tile wide…
  7. Yeah, I feel like autotiles can look super repetetive for such things. If was you I'd probably remix some clumpings out of the set above and just map the part normally (or just some different positions for the pads so you can remix on the map).
Like this is doable with the given things and just adding some off placed of the tiny petals to fill the gaps (and move the larger flower a little so it sits between tiles to break the grid a little):

  8. The only veeery minor thing that this set lacks compared to the set for VX Ace is the huge flower that's big enough to set to star passability and walk behind, but while that was sort of cool, I don't really need it.
  9. This is still somewhat WIP, but I thought I would share some excerpts of the map that I'm using these on. I also did a little remixing of the tiles for some increased variety. For now, I've left some patches of the default RTP lilypads mixed in; I may still replace those later, or maybe not, I'm not sure. I only left them in patches that were at least two tiles wide or high (unless I missed one).
