  1. Hello all!

I've been screwing around with my spriting abilities and trying to become more of an accessible resource-creator for game devs looking for something useful. I tried to take @Andronius suggestion of making a lizard sprite... but then I had a happy accident. I wound up creating a template for a big nosed goblin character. I was going to wait to share this because I also have a Goblin Shaman sprite to share but I just couldn't wait. ((I still am going to try and get that lizard guy down, though. It just will take a bit more time.))

Hopefully this little guy can come in handy. I know that there are already some beautiful goblin bases out there but I figured a little variation couldn't hurt. No plans on SV or faces yet, but if there's enough interest I might.

I'll also be opening a temporary sprite workshop later today. I want to get better by helping others who need sprites! Teamwork makes the dream work ;)
  2. Great stuff I actually really wanted a battler for that dancer for the longest time.
Also Im going to use that elephant head to make a real elephant lol
  3. That goblin looks great and has character. Happy accident indeed! :)
  4. @C-Unit Studios -- i'm so glad that you have use for the dancer! and please feel free to create an elephant animal with the head! i'd love to see how that turns out!

@Laurence L -- thanks so much! i was super excited to realize i had completely missed my goal on that one but that it was a neat salvage! :)
  5. I agree, your gobelin is awesome. The head is ... It's a welldone art. (Don't even know if it's a correct expression :oswt:)
And your dancer lady is welldone too. You like what you make and that's cool. (And it even can be usefull for us :o !)
  6. Hi all! :rswt

Life got sooo busy over the years and my laptop got sooo slow that RPGMaker took a backseat.

I realized I never replied to a few messages I got over the last couple of years about using my work in edits or whathaveyou - popping in to say use my pieces however you’d like with my blessing! If you want to show me what you made, feel free to send a message! That said, i haven’t been on the boards regularly so I might not see it. But I’ll def check back to see what you made! Love the community here and the creativity that I’ve seen!

also I have become a much more focused visual artist since I last came here. When I return, I hope to share some new resources with all of you!! Stay safe and happy RPGing!
  7. @palinskyjoe, thank you for selflessness to us. I am truly appreciated. What do you planned to do next keep going or just relax for a while? I feel this intrusive question from unknown stranger if you do want answer. I am completely understand. I hope you find success whenever you would like to pursue.
  8. Hello all! So, it has been, like, four-ish years since I posted anything new here. Things have changed, too! Now it looks like MZ is the cool new kid in town. I had to lay low for a few years because life got busy and my computer stopped running RPG Maker/GIMP/everything other than web browsers and word processors (hurray...) but I am happy to say I got a brand new comp finally and decided to dive back into some pixel art. Gave myself the little challenge of creating a full sheet of characters to share... and I completed that task!

I'm a fan of fantasy works and one of my favorite aspects of the genre is worldbuilding. For this character sheet, I decided to make a vague world in my head and stick with a simple palette of silver/gold/blue/reddish orange to define each character. What I wound up with was some fun looking knights, nobles, clerics, and even a cool lynx! Maybe these people are from a wintery place... or maybe the nobles like to keep exotic beasts as pets? The decision is yours!

I used the default MV bodies to make these, so the usual terms and conditions apply of needing to own MV to use these. Also, the 6th character uses parts of the face and arms of the People 4_8 -- as a side note, this character literally wound up looking a LOT like Olenna Tyrell from Game of Thrones/ASOIaF, which wasn't intentional. But I love the Queen of Thorns so, hey. I made the lynx to look like the other RTP animals, but there are probs a bunch of imperfections there. Still, I felt satisfied enough to share.

Please pardon if some of these lil' sprites seem messy and unrefined. It has been a minute since I really got to do any pixel work. Hopefully I'll get a bit smoooooother as time goes on!
Edits and all that are welcome, just try and remember to credit me! My terms haven't changed from my initial post, but I'll be sure to check and update to ensure. Happy gaming! :)

I started an SV battler for the first little soldier and mocked up some face sets, but they take so long and as of right now these little sprites will have to remain NPCs. Maybe I'll add some more resources for this set if there's interest. My plan is that I'm gonna try and upload with some regularity again to dust myself off and get used to staring at the tiny little squares on the screen as I move them around :eswt:
  9. That cat!!! At least i think its a cat... A big grumpy one at that.

Whatever it is it made my Day xD
  10. Well, well, well, time for an update!

First, @Finnuval , I realized I never replied to this - the grumpy cat is meant to be a lynx which, in reality, is just a big grumpy cat. Glad it made your day :D

Alright! I've been working on the idea of creating little character packs because I've been coming up with some fun stuff and I love to share (especially if anyone ever has need for what I throw out there!). The aim is to have face sets and some SV battlers as we move forward, but I didn't want to sit on these any longer while I put together the rest.

So here's the first installment of the Fantasy Forest Character Pack! *little trumpet fanfare*

    uc
The first two sprites I had started years ago and only finally finished. The eighth sprite uses Whtdragon's alternate body types, so proper crediting is required with that one! Sprite sheet and breakdown under the spoiler!

    Sprites!
    uc

So my breakdown of the characters is:
    Hero 1
Goblin Shaman (made using my original goblin base, found under the sprite section of my main posdt)
Mushroom Merchant (with a cute swinging satchel of shrooms)
    Male Dryad
    Hero 2
Hermit Woodswoman (with lil leaves in her disheveled hair)
    Anthropomorphic Rabbit(ish) Guy
Woodland Guide (made using one of whtdragon's bases, as mentioned above!)

Hopefully I can roll out the SV battlers and faces soon, but I'm really tweaking with those. I also have the next few packs I'd like to make and share worked out and some sprites drafted up... things like Pirate Cove Hideaway, Arctic Waste(or Wonder)land, Insect Crew, etc. The future should be fun! :)

    Enjoy all and happy gaming!
  11. New month, new update! This time we'll be stepping away from sprites and enjoying a few SV actors!

While making the SVs for my Fantasy Forest Character Pack, I realized I would need to make a base for my goblin sprite before I could make the goblin shaman in the pack. SO, today I present the SV goblin base for the TV sprite I designed several years back.

    But that's not all!

While the goblin shaman isn't done yet, I am slowly rolling out what I've completed! Today I have the first and seventh characters from my Fantasy Forest Character Pack. The bunny guy can even be used as a base along with the sprite if you want to add clothes and whathaveyou. Happy gaming, enjoy!

(Also, while I'm working on these at my own pace, let me know if there's an SV actor you'd like to see first! I can prioritize based on demand if it works out with my process!)

  12. Well it looks like we're in the thick of the holiday portion of the year (which, for me, begins in mid-October with my brother's birthday, then scoots all the way until February when my birthday occurs, with all the major holidays and the birthdays of my mom, dad, niece, nephew, partner, and sister-in-law shoved in between) -- so I tend to get caught up in all the hustle and bustle.

As a fun little side project, I made this turkey for anyone who might need a silly or cartoony turkey in their projects! There's also an alt. with a little hat and sunglasses that I'm calling "turkey incognito" for obvious reason. This was made using the MV RTP chicken as a guideline, so you'll need a copy of that to use the sprite! Otherwise, standard terms apply!

Also, if you missed it, these are my scaRESTAFF contributions. Be sure to scope out the goodies from a bunch of amazing folks from these boards and check them out hurrrr!

  13. Ho, ho -- WHOA! With all the amazing Advent calendar assets being released for the holiday season by talented artists like Avery, Starbird, and Waywardmartian, I bet all of ya were thinking that you knew where to look for fun winter freebies.

Well think again! Because, while not an advent calendar, @hiddenone and I have been working together since Halloween to create some fun assets for the community!

Since I predominantly create for MV and Hiddenone creates for MZ these days, we decided to tackle the same sprite concepts for our chosen engines. This means for the next 10 days (leading to Christmas itself) get ready for some fun, fun, fun! OR ELSE.

    With 10 Days Until Christmas...

Day 1 features an apparition who first appeared in text, of all places. In Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," famous miser Scrooge is visited by three ghosts with a lot to say about the holiday season. According to Dickens, the Ghost of Christmas Past appeared to Scrooge as a flickering flame in a robe with a face that constantly shifted between youth and old age. Taking this idea and running with it (as best as possible in pixel form) I opted for a kind of blue-flame floaty ghost!

    uc

The gifs for this sprite look weird because the transparent edges won't remain transparent, but the sprite sheets work as planned so that's all that matters. Whether you need a new type of ghost or monster, or simply want something weird to hang around your towns and dungeons, here's the sheet!

    uc

Now that you've seen my MV version of this concept, be sure to check out the version that Hiddenone has created on her MZ thread! Annnnnd come on back each day until Christmas for a lot of fun, on-theme, and weird little treats! Happy holidays all! :D
  14. With 9 Days Until Christmas...

If you saw the Ghost of Christmas Past on Day 1 and thought "hey, I guess Day 2 is going to be another holiday spirit" you would be... completely wrong! Bwa ha ha!

Switching gears to another holiday tale, "A Visit from St. Nicholas" by Clement Clarke Moore, which is usually known as "Twas the night before Christmas" (you know, the one where not a creature was stirring... not even a mouse, and so on). My mom read the story to us every Christmas Eve as kids, so there's a special place in my heart for it. Jumping into the illustrations of the copy we had, I decided to create the father in is his sleeping gown and robe as he investigates the noises of Santa on the roof.

    uc

    uc

So if you need a guy in a nightgown, cap and robe, you got it! ;)

Head to @hiddenone thread for her fantastic sprite and come on back tomorrow for more holiday treats!
  15. With 8 Days Until Christmas...

Since the first two days were from separate stories, it seems like the third day might follow suit with a sprite from a completely different holiday tale! Well wrong again, pal! To quote fictional character Annie Edison: "Nobody picks up on my patterns. What am I gonna say next? GRAHAM CRACKER. You didn't know."

But forreals, today we complete a set! Yesterday we had the father from "Twas the night before Christmas," and now we have mom in her kerchief and sleeping gown!

    uc

    uc

    uc

So now you have some sleepy parents (or a couple without kids who enjoy dressing in old school night attire) for your towns and whathaveyou!

Check out the MZ version of the sprite that @hiddenone has concocted on her MZ resource thread to finish your MZ set and come on back for more little pixel folk tomorrow! :D

Also! I will be sharing completed sprite sheets at the end of the release! So if you like to keep all your sprites together, that'll be coming once all the surprises have been revealed! ;)
  16. With 7 Days Until Christmas...

Well we're a week out from ol' Christmas and today's sprite is a festive little thing! @hiddenone created a teensy little walking sprite and we each made some edits to create some winter fantasy folk! I won't say what Hiddenone made for MZ, but ya'll are gonna love it when you see it on her thread.

My edits led me to make a big-earred brownie/ouphe!

    uc uc

Note: If you decide to use this one in a project, you need to credit both Hiddenone and myself on the sprite! Team work makes the dream work for ouphes, brownies, and humans alike. Also, because this doesn't use any edits of any RTP pieces, you can use this sprite in MV or MZ if you wish!

Made two variations on the little outfit I whipped up. One a little "bubble gum"ish and the other more holiday in tone.

    uc

So now there's a new fantasy species to populate your little world! Perhaps later in the release week there will be some sort of base that will drop so you can dress your own? Time will tell!

Again, don't forget to check out Hiddenone's thread for her daily surprise! See you folks tomorrow! :)
  17. WoW, loving these Christmas countdown sprites!!!
    Super cool!
  18. @GalacticGod Thanks so much! It definitely was a lot of fun to work on these (put me in the holiday spirit for sure) [[-- also, as a huge comic book fan I have to say kudos right back at you for all your awesome Marvel/DC sprites over the years! my nerd heart is so happy whenever you create one!]

    With 6 Days Until Christmas...

Looks like another ghost is stopping by with portentous words and advice on how to best embrace the season! Flipping back to "A Christmas Carol," we have the second ghost that visited old Scrooge (and my personal favorite): the Ghost of Christmas Present. Typically depicted as an overly joyous man in a loose green robe and crown of holly. He likes to eat, he likes to laugh, he likes to casually hang around in a robe while doing both. A ghost who knows what's what, tbh.

Now that you've seen this festive fella, look at the handsome apparition @hiddenone created for MZ users on her thread! Hope everyone is enjoying these little sprites as much as I did making them! :)
  19. I love the variety offered with these sprites. Perfect for a Christmas game, but, honestly, given a non-holiday background, can be used just about anywhere. It's really wonderful to have all these gorgeous sprites. Thank you all for your talents and your generosity. :kaothx:
  20. @Lady_JJ Thank you so much!! I'd love to see how people repurpose these sprites! I'm sure the creative minds out there can think of a ton of non-holiday uses! :D

    With 5 Days Until Christmas...

Is a cold wind blowing? It actually is where I am. After unseasonably warm days for weeks, the temperature just dropped significantly... but will be going back up to spring warmth by Christmas so who even knows... BUT, today's sprite is a classic holiday character: the Frost Queen! Or the Snow Queen. Or the Ice Queen. Or the Queen With Blue Skin Who Has a Body Temperature Slightly Lower Than Average. Whatever you want!

    ucuc

    uc

Wanted to give her kind of a peppermint-inspired dress to fit the whole winter theme. So now you have a new member of a royal family, or just a lady who likes to dress fancy and has poor circulation. Whatever you want!

And don;'t forget that @hiddenone has whipped up a frosty ruler for your MZ worlds, so be sure to check out the sprite on her MZ thread! Hope you all are having a lovely start to your Christmas weeks!
