  2. Released Second Edition Build 20191227 today. This update adds two new guild missions (technically three since it should provide enough hunter coins in order to exchange for the Advanced Hunter License, thus allowing you to access the Tomb of Kings). This will also be the last update for 2019. Unless there’s a critical bug to fix.

    • Fixed a bug where the slimes wouldn’t count when the player took on the “Slime Hunt” guild mission.
Merry Christmas/happy holidays, people. And have a happy new year.
  3. After a few years of tuning and getting the placeholder assets replaced (for the most part), I’m happy to announce that Immortal Sins Second Edition has reached stable. Although the changes between D0.31 and the last build are minor, this reaches an important milestone: The game has fully transitioned to RPG Maker MV and it has reached feature complete status. This means that I have reached the Beta milestone. All that’s left is to finish the story. You’ll be pretty much seeing balancing changes and bug fixes for the most part.

Now, if you are on the D0.20 builds, you will see a lot of improvements and changes, including an overhauled engine and gameplay, extra scenes and guild missions, etc. Sadly, compatibility with the old saves is broken, but I believe it’s a small price to pay for a vastly improved game.

That is all for now. See you in the next post.

    Changelog for D0.31:
    • Fixed a game-breaking bug that would lock up the player in the Mendor prison if they saved, exited the game and then load the save.
    • Balancing changes.
    • Reduced game size.
    • Minor bug fixes.
  4. Released D0.31 Update 1 (with a few additional fixes.

    • Implemented a fade-in for the music for some scenes.
    • Minor balancing changes.
    • Adjusted the map of Sena’s Adventurer’s guild.
    • Maria and Elena should now have full health after the prologue.
    • Fixed a bug that would lock up the game when it tried to load a now removed face graphic.
    • Fixed a bug where the Steal skill wouldn’t work.
    • Tweaked the image cache in order to mitigate a graphics loading bug.
    Northbridge:
    • Implemented a splash screen.
    • Removed Xceed WPF Toolkit from the launcher. This resulted in changing the slot selector.

  11. Released Version D0.32 Update 1 today. This update (codenamed "New Translation") is quite substantial. This brings a substantial amount of re-writes to the story, flashing out a lot of details in the process. There may be a few areas to improve, but this should improve the story. Why am I calling this update "New Translation"? Well... It's like me, a metaphorical archeologist, going back and translating the scripts. In addition, I have implemented some code so when the game updates, it will only extract new data. This is done to speed up the time it takes to update the cache.

    Changelog:
    • Re-wrote more scenes.
    • Implemented a system where new data is extracted.
    • Fixed some bugs and graphical errors.
  12. Released build 20210516. Fixes some issues in the game.

    • Fixed a bug that caused the counters in the states buffs and debuffs to show up in the wrong position during battles.
  13. Released Version D0.32 Update 2 today. This update is more of a technical rework rather than a more substantial update. Notable improvements are the improved performance and splitting the audio files into their own pack (which should reduce the size of updates in some cases).
    • Performance improvements.
    • Implemented a tweak as to how the engine will handle the memory. Hopefully, this will fix the issue where the game would discard any necessary images too early.
    • Split the audio into its own package.
    • Tweaked how stealable skills are shown.
    • Fixed some bugs and graphical errors.
EDIT: Uploaded a new build to fix a crash introduced in this release and a few extra changes.
  14. After months of work, I am happy to announce that I have released version D0.40 (codename "Arcane Steel"). This version of the game comes with a ton of quality-of-life changes, re-works, and the overhauled Northbridge Platform. Although, there's still work to be done, the new foundation will allow me to further refine the game.

    Changelog:
    Spoiler
    Game
    • Added a new side-mission.
    • Updated renderer to 0.62.
    • Balancing changes to the characters:

        • The "Mana Claw" skill can be learned. Part of the damage is converted into MP damage.
        • The "Overturn" skill can be learned. Flips the buffs and debuffs of everyone.
      • Zero:
        • The "Super Guard" skill was replaced by Iron Guard. Part of the damage is converted into MP damage.
        • "Healing Aura" skill can be learned. Can heal multiple allies over time, at the cost of MP (for upkeep).
        • Replaced "Provoke" and "Cover" with a re-worked version of "Guardian Angel". When active, the damage to allies is redirected to Zero instead (also grants higher defense).

        • Received the "Provoke" skill.

        • Added the "Corrosive Ammo" skill. For a brief time, Sierra's attacks can corrode the enemy's armor (reducing their defense for a brief time).
        • The "Accurate Shot" skill was re-tooled into "High Impact Shot" (reduces physical defense for a brief time. Can Stun). This skill requires a rifle to be equipped.
        • Added the "Rapid Fire" shot. Reduces the cooldown of Combat Arts skills, alongside a boost of agility and evasion. Requires pistols to be equipped.
        • Removed the "Armor Break" skill as it was redundant.
        • He's more likely to be targeted by the enemies if he has a rifle equipped.
        • The "Assassin's Gambit" skill can now be learned. Any excess damage dealt when the enemy is killed is transferred over the next attack (within one action).
      • Gus:
        • "Lifeline" skill can be learned. Adds a state to the target, where if he/she's healed, Gus will also receive some of the heal (also applies in reverse).
        • The "Assault" skill has been replaced by the "Morale Boost" skill. Provides a boost to attack and defense stats.
        • The "Goddess' Embrace" skill was replaced by "Burden Transfer". Pulls all of the negative status ailments to the user. Heals his allies (depending on how many of them had).
        • Removed "Nightmare" from the learnable skills.

      • VSync.
    • Removed Discord Rich Presence as it was pointless.
    • Temporarily removed the Restore option from the Backup and Restore Menu. It will return after an overhaul in a later update. Until then, use the Import option from the Save Manager.
    Installer (Windows only)
    • Included a tool that installs the Evergreen version of Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime.
  15. Released a patch for the game today, which brings a small update to the launcher (if you are playing the game on Linux, you can skip this one). With this update, the package versioning and the list of file hashes (used to verify that there are no tampered, damaged or missing files that would break the game) are separate from the launcher. When the game starts, it will load them up from a few files. This makes it easier to push out updates to the game (and implement future features as well).

    Northbridge Changelog:

    • Package version and file hash list are stored in two files.
    • Sped up the launch times for both the Game Master and the launcher.
    • The game version is referenced from a manifest file.
    • Fixed localisation issues.
    • Fixed bugs related to the file checks.
    • Fixed a bug, where resetting the cache (Cache Management -> Reset) would instead start the game.
    • Library updates.
  16. Ahoy! Here's a small patch for the game.
    Spoiler
    Game:

    • Implemented new defaults for the sound settings.
    • Fixed a soft-lock, where skipping one of the prologue scenes would break the script.
    • Tweaks to the memory management.
    • Minor balancing tweaks.
    Northbridge:

    • Re-worked the save export UI.
    • Applied a fail-safe if the user selected no files to export and clicked on Export.
    • Fixed some localization issues.
    • Behind-the-scenes changes to improve stability.
  17. Well... This update is speedy.

This update to Northbridge comes with a big performance boost. Under-the hood, I did the following:

    • I've switched the container Prism used from Unity (no, not the engine) to DryIoc. This brings better performance for Prism.
    • I've slightly re-tooled the Game Master so it follows the MVVM design.
    • I've re-enabled multi-core JIT. It was disabled in the previous releases due to some technical issues I've encountered.
So, how much performance did it get? In simpler term, a lot. The launcher saw a small improvement. But the Game Master? It cut the time from the launch to the title screen by half. Even cache management saw a performance boost. To the point where the reset cache option was basically untraceable on an SSD. I might have to put a small animation on it so it doesn't look jarring. Imagine if .NET's Just-In-Time compiler reached maximum optimization...

When I was overhauling Northbridge, I wanted it to be speedy and robust. And with this patch, I've completed this long-term item with flying colors.

    Anyways, here's the changelog:

    • Re-enabled multi-core JIT.
    • Switched Prism's container from Unity to DryIoc.
    • Vastly improved performance for the Game Master.
    • Minor memory usage improvements.
    • Removed unnecessary libraries.
    • Implemented a fail-safe when resetting or rebuilding the cache.
  18. I play the game online for a bit and looks good, however, I found
some issues (at least 2 out of 3).

    issues
    1) in the options meny on advanced rendering, is a type, should be
    "recommended".
    1_typo.png

    2) this one might be on purpose, otherwise "interfere". (cutscene after itemshop)
    2_typo.png

    3) in the house, this chairback should be behind the player instead of in front?
    3_issue.png
I also notice that they all sit on the chairback from the sides, but nice game.
I might play later a bit more in the cave part.
  19. It’s been a while since the last update. Summer ended up just a hectic as spring. Regardless, I worked on a new update. This is primarily a lot of fit and finish work, fixing some issues and improving some aspects. I’ve also done some optimizations to northbridge so it works faster and remove the WebView2 component (since it’s no longer necessary). The links on the “Information” menu will simply open the sites on your browser. Thus, all of the mirrors will have one package that is smaller. Also, this update brings the overhauled Crystal Caves as well.

    Here’s the changelog:
    Spoiler

    • Overhauled Crystal Caves.

    • Minor balance to the Assassin.
    • Reduced the number of items to cache.
    • Fixed a bug where the text for "Guardian Angel" isn't showing.
    Northbridge

    • It will now show if the launcher is checking the game's files at startup. Reduces the time from the splash screen to the launcher UI.
    • File checking is skipped when the game is launched from the launcher (instead of the shortcut in the Jump List).
    • Performance and memory usage improvements.
    • Removed the WebView component as it is no longer necessary.
      • Links in the "Information" menu will simply open the links to the browser.
  20. Well... There have been a lot of updates on Immortal Sins. haven't been keeping this thread up to date lately. You can catch up on the updates via a link in the launcher.
In any case, here's D0.41! Changelog:
