Dunno about anyone else, but I can honestly say I had tons of fun while pushing myself to actually finish a project.
While there are some flaws in my entry, it has sparked the desire to make it better.
Cant be a bad thing can it ?

Oh absolutely @Dekita. I'm so glad I took part in this contest and actually completed my first ever full game! It's been an amazing ride :D
-
I'm the same way. This was my very first game. And we had never really used RPG Maker before this month. While I can identify many glaring issues with my entry I can say the experience has more than prepared me to know how to handle things in the future and what I need to do to execute my ideas better. I needed this contest to push me in that direction.
-
Yep, I agree. I had a lot of fun. And I'm really proud of myself that in the face of total hopelessness, I still managed to pull through and make something I liked. It was a good time. And it was nice participating in this with all of you.
-
I learned a TON from this. plus, how many can say they made a VIDEO GAME FROM START TO FINISH IN ONLY ONE MONTH? <3
Very few.
Moreover, quite a few of us put our ALL into these projects, which made 'em even better. -
This really was a total blast. I had a lot of fun. Yeah, the last week (more like the final few days) were stressful as hell, but it came together. I would do it all again, for sure (after a ton of rest though...).
-
I actually am tempted to start working on my platformer again... Maybe draw some pixel art. I mean, I need more enemies than a snail and a gnome that you can jump on to steal his hat and make him so mad he goes bald and red faced, right?
B) It sure was ;)
Or....
SpoilerContinue project
make it bigger
make it better
make...
it...
Gooder? that's the word you were looking for after that last tag, I'm sure of it. More BETTER is not good grammars. ;)
I do plan on going back in, adding some things, side quests, flesh out the characters a bit more (Particularly Sabi), things of that nature.
But for now, I'm seriously going to take about a week, week and a half, and just VEG. -
@Dekita, nope, not a bad thing!
And I was surprised how much fun this actually was o.o I thought I was going to hate this. But was tired of never having finished any sort of important project. I'm all fired up now for my next game XD I know I can make it a million times better :p
@All, who plans on spending the month of july polishing up their game and adding the features they didn't have time to fully implement? -
I'm kind of unsure, myself. On the one hand, it might be nice, but on the other hand, it's also nice to hold onto it in its original form... just to be able to say that *this* was what you were able to accomplish. Of course, if someone actually enjoys my game, or it seems like the work might be appreciated, then that's another story. :)@All, who plans on spending the month of july polishing up their game and adding the features they didn't have time to fully implement?
Though, really, I think I'm just going to take a break for a bit. It's crunch time at work, too, and I'll be glad to be able to finally relax with my two-something hours of free time, at nights. :guffaw: -
Oh. Don't get me wrong. I'm not gonna even TOUCH it this week (aside from fixing a few typos and collision bugs people have pointed out to me). But I'm going to (at a leisurely pace) add in the features I didn't have time for. I'm going to spend more time poking my battle system with a stick, as well as add in a few more characters (the game is dating-sim-esque), as well as the alternate endings I planned on having :p
And you should keep your entry version as it's own special memorial. So you can show off what you did in a month. But have the polished version up in a more public place so people will see the idea version. -
Now that I released the game less than half as good as I wanted it to be. I'm going to completly revamp it and improve it :)
-
Yep. I'm actually typing a list of things that I know I need to fix or improve. This is honestly why I haven't made a thread for it - I do not feel like it is the best that it can be. But I'll get there. Now that I released the game less than half as good as I wanted it to be. I'm going to completly revamp it and improve it :)
-
Can still make a thread for it though - then your games 'fans' will be able to provide enhanced feedback and critique :)
-
That's true, but I guess first we need to make it close to what we want it to become, even if it's not finished yet :)

I'm so happy that I got a chance to enter this contest. The knowledge I gained was immensely helpful and I learned even more on how to map better. I wasn't able to implement all that I wanted into my project for the contest, but I'm still glad overall of the completed product.
I'm thinking that perhaps when this is all over that I'll expand on the game to make it how I envisioned or maybe just make a sequel( I certainly gave enough room for one). -
I feel the same way, I learned a lot about scripts, eventing, and RMVX, since I never worked with it before the contest, the Humble Bundle was sold on a great time. I had been flirting with the steam page for it for a while.I'm so happy that I got a chance to enter this contest. My game also has every room for sequel possible, heh, and I think before finishing it, I was already thinking of ways to develop more on the story, with less of a rush since there is no deadline now.
Just gotta figure out the sprite style I want to go with, and try to create my own content if possible. Good luck on your projects. -
Hmph! You thought it was all over? Nonsense! My conquest will not end until this world comes to rest in the palm of my hand! Go forth, my legion!
