  1. Goals for tomorrow (since today was spent with the wife's family-her grandfather is a WWII Vet):

Finish the Databasing for the game.  Roughly 1/4th of the way done with that as is.

That will probably take the whole day, as I am NOT very good at it.

IF I get that done, then I have some stretch goals here:

    Finish mapping the Ship

Map the space ports for each of the five planets

Event the NPCs for each of the space ports

During the next weeks, my goals are:

Finish mapping the ENTIRE planets (space port, outside area, dungeon (which will be a cave/forest/swamp/whatever, depending on the planet))

Event every NPC in the game

TRY and implement a crafting system that's easy to use and understand

    Implement party select system

Restructure the Day/Night cycle to end the game after a certain number of days have elapsed

Get opening and both ending cutscenes done (one for if you beat it, one for if you fail)

Get music and whatnot laid in, possibly even recording some original tracks, if I have the time and am physically able (my body really kind of hates me right now)

IF I'm able to get all that done, that's pretty much the game in the bag.

I'll keep everyone updated as I go along, if you're interested.
  2. My goal's are getting the prologue sequence finished and creating the puzzles.
  3. well here's an interesting update:

ALL the databasing I have done up to this point (which I did save, because I've playtested with it several times, and I ALWAYS save before a playtest) has just disappeared.

    Every.

    Last.

    Bit of it.

We're talking every weapon I put in.  Gone.  Half of the armor I was putting in.  Gone.

To top it all off, my desktop computer has started to -YONKIED!- up.

This is beyond frustrating, and I'm getting very, VERY not happy with it.

Couple all that with how generally -YONKED!- I feel right now?  I'm one more setback away from just saying to hell with this.  I mean, we're talking nearly 4 hours of work, GONE.
  4. I started working on my game for a few hours every day starting about half a week ago, and I'm making surprising progress! Considering my concept is pretty simple to work with, all I really need to do is just map everything out and polish it up over the rest of the month. My game is going to have multiple endings and tons of dialogue options and so far I have the intro scenes and the first alternate ending done (which takes place very close to the beginning of the game). I'd say I'm about a fifth done but I think I've overcome all of my major hurdles so far! Now I just have to integrate a few scripts I found and maybe redo some of the room/sprite design so it looks fancy, but I'm surprised at how enjoyable this all is!
  5. Done today:

    1. The menu is finally set up in a way that works for the game and looks fairly nice.

    2. Edited together some tilesets so I don't have tons just sitting in my folder (I may continue to do that, just to keep the game as compact as possible)

    3. Started working on the battle system, finally (I should have started this first; I'm not really good at actually putting together a battle system; especially since there's a lot to work out)

    4. Made the male lead a bust, finally (the girl had one just because I originally made her face using a bust generator and then edited it so it looked closer to her)

    Goals for tomorrow:

    1. Need to finish setting up/editing the battle system so it feels more like how I envisioned

    2. Finish up mapping the side rooms that I for some reason keep putting off

    3. Start eventing a puzzle (I know if I don't put this it'll just go to the wayside...)
  6. @Xenos2112: Seriously? That's horrible! I've heard about this sort of thing happening before because windows did a system restore or some such nonsense. I hope recreating is faster or that you can find the missing data.

Sent you a virus so I could win, you were too much of a threat. . .kidding. I hope as Sharm said that the recreation is much faster this time around. Hey maybe this time you'll notice something you didn't the first time around.  Also try to keep at least one copy of your game at all times.  I tend to copy the folder every now and then and if it works the next time I get on I delete the old copy and make a new one.

Yeah.  Not sure what caused it.  Kind of par for the course with me, though.  Same thing happened with a story I was writing some years ago.  Lost over 40 pages of work.  I've just terrible luck.  And aye, it went a bit faster-I had to cut some things, but I'm NEARLY back to where I was.  Only took two hours this time!

AH HA!  I KNEW IT!  THERE'S THE POOPATRATOR! /Angelica from Rugrats

Aye, I'll be saving a copy OFF DRIVE, as in on my spiffy college motif thumbdrive (GO TITANS!  GTCC ROCKS!) at the end of every day.  This really had me in a state, won't lie.  Lost a lot of hard work.

BUT!  I'm nearly back to where I was.  Took two hours, but I've ALL the weapons reinstated, all the armor reinstated (well, rather'n have 5 suits per class, I did THREE suits OVERALL), and I've reinstated all character classes, replotted the EXP curves, and even battle tested to make sure they're not stupidly overpowered against stock enemies with what weapons they start with.

TOMORROW is going to be finishing up with the items, getting all the enemies and troops set in, adjust skills, and basically finish up with the databasing.

MAYBE, if I play my cards right, I'll knock it out really quick, and can finish mapping the space ship at least.  Just have 2/3rds of the Galley, the Engine Room, and the MedWard to map on it!

Right now, though, I'm taking one of my LAST pain pills (reminds me, need to see my doctor about a refill), and going to become one with the covers on my bed, and HOPEFULLY have awesome rocking dreams that will inspire this game.

    ...

Either that, or wild dreams of -YOINKED!-

Thanks again for the encouragement, I needed it.  Hell, STILL do!  -YOINKED!- like this gets to me in a bad, bad way, because it's like everything is against me, EVEN MY COMPUTER!  I mean, it's bad enough my parents don't take this seriously at all (I'm married and live in my own house, but still it's nice to have their approval), so when -YOINKED!- goes down, I get discouraged REAL quick...  So thank you both.  I cannot stress how thankful I am with words.  Just, thank you.
  9. ^Glad everything is back for the most part.  Wish I was progressing as much as you, things are going very slowly for me
  10. My earlier post can be ignored I guess, I started planning and mapping the MC's house before the contest started.

I had actually found this thread through the "Recent Topics" feed on the main forum page. I didn't realize which subforum it was in and, at that time, the title didn't specify it was for the IGMC. It just sounded interesting so I replied.

Glad to hear you're getting caught back up!

I know how that goes... Don't know why you need them but for me Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome is a MAJOR pain and running out of pain meds can be completely crippling.

The only reason I'm as far along as I am is I have literally spent 26 solid hours of time working on this game over the past week.  To put that in perspective, I am allowed to get a MAXIMUM of 30 hours at my job (because I'm part time, over that, problems occur with payroll and whatnot).  This past week, I think I pulled 23-24.  So I have quite literally spent more time this week working on this game than I have working to pay my bills.

    ...

I've not been THAT involved with anything since I was a professional musician back 2007-2011.

    ...

I might uh, need to reevaluate my priorities! ;)

And hey, if you need some help, or just want to bounce an idea off someone, by all means, drop a line my way!
  12. I mentioned yesterday something about wondering if I was going to do any art for this game. It turns out my partner has put in the request for me to draw things. With the OST coming down to the last tracks I think I can manage. So, I guess I'm going to hopefully get the line drawings done today.

We got the basic shape and design for the dungeon, now we just need to come up with some sort of puzzle. Neither of us are huge puzzle people so it's hard to come up with an idea that will be fun and sort of easy to implement. We also have to start work on a mini game.
  13. My goals for today are to finish the coding for the following ::

Various Power-ups (temp buffs etc)Explosives / Ship Explode on deathGravitySelect Ship Scene
I will post a report of what I actually get done later ^_^
  14. My goals for today are to implement the selling aspect of my trading system (heroes sell you their phat loots), and the campfire tales system (a summary of their exploits and how they used the items they bought from you).

I've already spent too many hours fixing my drivers after my GPU died. Managed to manually modify the kext cache on my MacBook Pro so that it thinks the GPU doesn't exist, and switch over to the internal intel HD chip. It works; no external display, but using vmware, I can boot my win7 partition and continue making the game, which makes me happy :D
  15. Thanks to just a few hours of sleep the night before, I didn't get as much accomplished yesterday as I had wanted. I did make progress on the puzzle though and made a menu mock up. I'm hoping today to claim some coffee shop time (my husband owes me, he took off for several hours yesterday to get a new tattoo, lol!) Today my goals are:

    • Finish this darn puzzle! Primarily need to finish the clues and tutorial and copy everything to the easier level. I'm trying to make it look spiffy though and have delved into some coding on a couple of different points (thanks Dekita), so who knows how long that will take.
    • Sit down and write out a detailed outline with scenes needed.
    • Decide on maps. I'm having trouble deciding exactly what I need as far as maps go. Hopefully detailing the scenes needed will help with this.
  16. I shall assume then that you got that snippet working as intended? ^_^
  17. I put it in and think I understand it, but I haven't played with it to actually make it work yet. I was seriously working on so little sleep yesterday...
  18. Lol I know how that feels. I had to take the day off yesterday cause all I had done for around 100 hours was write code / make images (I took small 4-6 hour sleep breaks in between 10-12 hour shifts of code writing)

If you have any problems or questions about it when you begin testing it feel free to PM me. ^_^

    Also.. Innuendo Much? :D
  19. Ha! Nooo... I just have sleep issues from time to time. Also my husband had made us some decaf coffee that night but as I stared at the ceiling at 2:30 am I was seriously questioning its caffeine level.
  20. I wasn't able to finish my goal, because of some spontaneous things that happened :)

Goal was to finish all the cutscenes for the first town, but I finished around 75%.
