  1. Today I made another Sachiko encounter and continued implementing the storyline to the contest entry.

It is not Corpse Party's Sachiko of course but quite similar, thus the name. For starters she is a vampire and not a ghost. Also personality is different.

...As to the script, I'm currently doing what I can without them, on account of seriously, I'm keeping it as simple as possible.  HOWEVER, if I need it, I surely will, and thank you!
Cool. Its just a simple little script to show an infinite number of splash screens before the title screen. Nothing major complex or anything. :)
  3. I, like, only designed 1 puzzle in the last 3 days.

    Oh well. Soon.
  4. :o slowing down on purpose?
  5. Not on purpose. Just means I'll probably have to go on overdrive this last week.

It's definitely gonna be finished tho.
  6. Working on the chases.... Those are not fun. Also finishing up events.   I just realized that the entire hour migh be spent if any particular judge is horrible at mazes... so I added a talking skeleton or three to help the player along. Creepy? Yes. Deadly? No.  I finished up a scare or when you complete the final maze of the game...  Then onto the final "boss"... This will not be pretty...

I'm hoping to FINISH by the 27th.... so I can spend the last two days tweaking and breaktesting it all...

I hope it is, I like puzzles :)

I will be lucky if I have everything finished for as early as that. Good thing is though I dont need any playtesting to be done. All my systems work without issue. Obviously I will still get some testers just in-case, but I have put it through vigorous testing lol
  8. Phew, got lots done today. Improved the AI of the heroes, implemented most of the buying aspect—where you buy their epic loots,—wrote more dialogue, polished some maps, and finally restructured and finetuned the scene transitions.

    Now I should stop working—it's 1:15am—before I start breaking things :D
  9. what did you do with transitions?
  10. I might've worded that a bit silly. What I've done is instead of using the default map transitions, I'm using my own overlay image + screen tint transitions using my easing script, which makes all transition fades look smoother and more pleasing. Small details, but you'll see a lot of those fades, so it's important to gamefeel :)  They're also shorter, at about 25 frames, without it being disorienting.
  11. This is getting interesting now... What does your easing script do? lol
  12. It adds a lot of different mathematical easing methods to the built-in picture manipulation functions (Move and Tint picture), as well as to events and the player. So you can make images come in fast and then slow down before they stop, all by setting Game_Picture.easing = :quad_out. Or have an object "fall" 3 tiles and bounce upon hitting the ground, over 30 frames, using ease_moveto(0, "+3", 30, :bounce_out). You can check out my footer for the script post and some visual examples :)
  13. Have two of the five planets totally evented out now, shops, NPCs, boss fights.  That leaves a total of three to event, then work on the opening and closing cutscene, and tightening up the database a bit.  *Nods*

I should be done hopefully by tomorrow with this.

SO very excited!  I'm actually DOING A THING with some stuff.  I feel an odd mixture of pride and self-worth.  Very pleasing, this.
  14. yea, thats pretty damn cool... Will have to check that our further after the contest :D
  15. HOLY -YOINKED!-, BATMAN.

Everything is done, except NPCs on the space ship, the party system script, and the opening and closing cut scenes.

The game is 100% fully playable.

The game is 100% ready to ship if it comes down to it.

The game is 100% kick ALL TEH @$$.

I have put in more than 100 hours on this game.  That's a little more than 5 hours a day, every day.  And that does NOT include talking to my wife, hashing out ideas, and all of that.

Yes, I use the RTP and DLC resources, so it's not original graphics or music.  But the point is, I did a thing.  I did a damn HARD TO DO thing, and I did good.

    I'm stoked.

Pushing Beta back from tomorrow to Tuesday at the request of a handful of my testers.  But outside that, EVERYTHING has come together EXACTLY as it should have.

Sure, I had to 86 a couple of features, and it's not as grand a scale as I'd hoped-but it's only an hour.

After this contest, I'm developing out a full Morendah game, and I'm going to start working on my Horror game.

    I.

    Am.

    STOKED, you guys.

    You have no idea.

I'm going to go and have myself a scotch on the rocks, and smoke a cigar.  *nods*
  16. @Xenos2112, pssssh. Just a little over an hundred? I'm fast approaching 250 hours, and I'm not done yet XD

But good job man! You gotta feel amazing having the whole thing finished!

@All, my goal for today is to finish up the end of the game. I don't have everything for the middle in place yet (though I've got "placeholder cutscenes" in place for the bits i haven't finished yet), but I figured I should get the ending in place just in case something happens. I'd rather rush some bits near the middle than rush the ending.

MAN this ending requires a lot of sprite posing. I've already had to make 5 actor sprites, 6 enemy sprites, and several poses and particle effects. And I'm only 2/3 of the way done with the ending XD

I WILL finish the ending tonight. Then I will reward myself by going out somewhere tasty to eat.

I'm going to try and finish the cutscenes in the middle by tuesday, then spend the rest of my remaining time making the graphics required to ditch the turn based battle system I'm using (the only one I like is pretty glitchy) and convert the game to use an action battle system. Thankfully I used to spend a lot of time on the forums helping people out with the action battle system I'm going to try to switch to. So I won't have to learn much to get it up and running.

Try roughly 14 hours per day (minus weekends) ;)

    Edit:

Weekends it has been about 6 per day :(
  18. Congratulations, Xenos! You deserve your vice. I know that when this game is finished, since I don't drink, I'm gettin' myself a chocolate dipped from Dairy Queen! (For those outside the area, replace that with your fave ice cream parlor)
  19. @Dekita, I've been working 13 hour days every day for the most part XD I didn't get started on the first of the month.

@Iron Croc, Awe, you gotta go all out! Get a blizzard!
  20. I didn't post goals for today but progress: I feel I can say the story part is 98% done. I am seeing double right now though and need to go to bed. (I'm a lightweight when it comes to staying up late anymore.)

I feel like a quilter making this thing - most of the bigger pieces are finish theyjust need to be sewn together and made to look pretty. Mapping is done except going back through and compiling a bit more from tilesets to add soem detail.

Crafting system is in place. The only big piece missing is enemies and battles, but since this is not a a battle-heavy game, I hope that won't take to terribly long.

After that it will just be polish and details.

Oh, I also wrote out an intro. I like to make them in a fun different way.

    And I'm off to bed.
