  1. My question: why?
  2. I've never understood the appeal of Disgaea's hyper-inflated numbers. It's the video game version of having a million Zimbabwean dollars.

Hitting for 20 damage in Fire Emblem is way more satisfying than doing 4,957,721,846 damage in Disgaea
  3. That's a lot of CAPES, lol. (You should edit your post so it says "cap", not "cape".)

If that bothers you more than the thread title...
  5. I'm not sure I understand what's going on here.

Don't get me started on "then" vs "than" lol. Not to mention duplicate/redundant words...:kaoswt2:
  7. That is too big of a scope for one person to undertake...but if you wanna do that, it's your call.

Something about numbers being so high they become meaningless. I don't know.

Not really...numbers are just numbers. Do you individually enter information for every single of the 99 levels your game comes with by default? No, you set starting and ending values and generate a curve.

Everything else on there is the same, you just set up the math for "this level has this effect in combat" and it doesn't matter how many levels there are.

If you were trying to make by hand content for every level, obviously a full team of developers couldn't actually make so much as one different enemy per level, so you'd have to use some assortment of enemies/items/skills and set their stats to something relative to the player's ridiculous level.

Heck, you could make the characters gain tons of levels with every hit and achieve this in a single map with a few fights. Weird numbers don't equal a grand scope :guffaw:
  10. Those are rookie numbers! We demands higher!

Yeah! If the level cap isn't a googol, I ain't interested.
  12. @ATT_Turan For once, you read way too deep into that.
  13. I remember when I was this young, and I also liked the dopamine gain from back then a lot more.

    Let them dream, guys.
  14. I just realized the age of the OP. Yeah, this is making a lot more sense, LOL. I don't even want to remember the monstrosities I made when I was that age.

I'm...not sure how to take that! If I normally don't read too deeply into things, are you saying you think I'm shallow? :guffaw:
  16. I had a phase where I was really into fire patterns against black backgrounds when I was in middle school too lol. Man, now I feel old...
  17. I'm making a game set in a modern-fantasy world where the characters are based on me and my friends. It originally started as a joke.

It's a standard turned-based JRPG where my character (I uh, mean the main character) ends up dragging her friends on an adventure through places in the city. It'll be pretty dungeon-crawler like. A minimal time system where some of the part members are at work and can't join you and everyone has the same amount of skills. Plus a passive and a field ability (such as lighting the dungeon or detecting traps). Optional places to visit, like a haunted mansion or swamp.

The game starts off with me and my fiance chilling on the couch when something disturbs my animal companions - I'm an elf and brought my "pets" into the city with me. Insert first battle. The next part is one of my friends had tripped and lost her wedding ring in the sewer, and my adrenaline from the night before kicks in. I'm rearing to go find it. XD

In the sewer, I see several different disturbing/weird things that makes me question the local factory. I tell my boss (I'm a newspaper writer) who says if I have evidence, I could write about it. Something like that.

I've been trying to think of a name for this game for months and nothing's come to mind. Any ideas?
  18. @StrawberryFlower, I see you posted that like a month ago. You still havin' trouble sweetie, or didja hit upon a name?
