I have an idea from a dream I had many years ago, and I thought it sounds like a decent idea for a game. The world suffers an world ending event and as a result, people are sent into underground centers to wait for the day that it is safe. A group of students and a teacher wake up to find that the group that they were with are now dead and that they are the only survivors. They were told to head back to the nearby city to meet up with other people from other centers, only to discover large strange creatures who call the city home. This was WAY before I had ever heard of fallout, strangely enough, so I was wondering if I could make it into a game without people thinking of Fallout.
Yes, because post-apocalyptic was a genre way before fallout.
  2. @Caitlin entirely doable. As trouble time pointed out Fallout wasn't the one inventing the genre.
  3. True, but I was mostly afraid that it sounded too much like Fallout, even though I know the dream came way before Fallout. =^_^= I suppose some people might always think that it is a Fallout fan game. You can't stop people from thinking that, right?
  4. @Caitlin nope. You can only do your part. But some People will always believe that

Tha's true, but there are also people who think George R.R. Martin invented da4k fantasy and that Madoka Magica is the first magical girl show with dark elements.
  6. Hi everyone,

I plan to add a space/time mage in my game. I easily see how I can create time related skills (agi buff, debuff, paralyze everyone...) but for space magic, I have no enough ideas. What do you think ?
  7. I am thinking of doing a chsrachar thst can switch from being a paladin and a dark knight with varying skill sets. Like the former is support and the latter is dps for example.

Well stun is probably a good choice to have, maybe a skill that advances the turns some how (like say the enemy were debuffed with poison, you make 2 turns pass so theyre instantly damaged twice). I also think the ability to enfeeble enemies by aging them or something.

Like Cecil but with the ability to go back and forth. It sounds cool.
  9. Well, what do you know? I was just thinking about creating a post-apocalyptic RPG for my first real VXAce project. As with Fallout, it would take place following a nuclear war, but unlike Fallout it would have a linear storyline. I'm most likely not going to use magic whatsoever in this game, although how I would go about removing that I'm not all that sure.

Could anyone help me out with this, if they can?
  10. So I’m mulling over an idea for a game. The basic plot is that a mercenary working for a small country ends up imprisoned. The country was at war with a much larger country and was likely to lose, but they won a major moral victory when the mercenary killed the larger countries prince. Eventually the two countries signed a treaty, but one of the terms was that the mercenary would be turned over to the larger country as revenge for the death of the prince, and the smaller country had no problem handing her over.

Now this mercenary finds herself in a dank dungeon awaiting execution, but she won’t let it in here. She’s planning to escape.

I made this plot ot be very short since it’d take place in one building. I want to reuse the character of the mercenary later too, and maybe set another game in the same world. So what does everyone think. Also I’m imagining she’ll gather up other prisoners and work with them to escape making up the party.
  11. So.... long ago a god created the earth, and three dragons.
the dragons transformed into humans and each one founded a kingdom.

many years later, to of the dragons kingdoms are at war.

the asian themed kingdom of "Hikari"and the medieval european themed kingdom of "Serveria".

Hikari lost, and was conquered by Serveria.

100 years later, the main character (wich is a serverian knight) Is revealed to be the heir of the Hikarian royal family.

(there is also a third kingdom wich is reveald near the middle of the game and there is lots of more lore but still)

    What do you think?

the whole dragons turning into humans part is explained in the game..
  12. @Alphey4406 I've merged your two posts together and moved it to this thread.
  13. @Alphey4406 I'm not gonna lie, it sounds really similar to Fire Emblem Fates. I'm sure it's not intentional but the idea of an Asian themed kingdom at war with a European themed kingdom with a protagonist trapped between both sides, a third kingdom revealed later in the game and the fact the kingdoms are linked to dragons...the parallels are striking. The details will probably differed but the broad strokes are all you've offered so I can only base my thoughts on those. I like the idea but it does bear that similarity so you should be aware of that.

    Yea i was... "Inspired"..............

i will of course make changes as I develop the game, and i will make sure to make changes to the story to seperate it from its insparations.

Keep in mind that there is one character in the game from another dimension, wich has its own story, and that there is TONS of lore behind the creator god.

But still, thanks for pointing that out!

What kind if lore is there behind the creator god? I personally prefer war games like Warmachine/Hordes or the big one Warhammer40k (which i cant afford to play my friend has 2 armies though) so i dont know much about fire emblem. But i cant say much about your game cause there isnt too much info.

Ah, so when I said "I'm sure it wasn't intentional", it actually completely was. The knowledge that you know exactly what you're doing moves it from an awkward coincidence to "Fates with the serial numbers filed off" territory, and that's never a good look. Just be aware of that, that anyone who knows Fates will be able to see right through it.
  17. @Addemup id need more information to really comment on your game, but i do like most post apocalyptic universes. As for magic, if youbwanted something similar, you could use psychic powers

@Lady-J the premise sounds alright, a prison break is a tried and true plotline.

@Alphey4406 i've never played FEFates, but your plot sounds interesting.

Thank you. I was partually unspired by criminal girls. I really hope i can get more feedback. It seems like this thread isnt very active.
  19. Not sure if this is the right place...but...

I had this sudden idea of having a unique healer. His healing is great but if the target char have status ailments the skill will cure those instead. In other words, he can't heal you if you're ill, so he will cure that first before he can heal you on next turn.

How would this affects battle dynamics... or the battle in general? Is it worth exploring? Is there anything fun should I go with this path?
One thing I can think of is that it will promote using restorative itema for sure, lol.
