I was working on this. This place is a non-physical location so I wanted to do something interesting with the border around the room. I think I'm happy with it so far.

@karraymalek, this is fantastic rendering! Using such a system you can achieve such wonderful atmospheric scenes. While I'm not saying anything you haven't heard, this is quite a lovely and inspirational sight. :LZSproud:

That's a nice looking castle! I would put shadows going up the walls next to the towers, and corners.
  5. @Skyquake I'm having huge difficulties with perspective in this section.

As far as I can tell, the gap between the brown roof and the back wall is only one tile wide, maybe 2, judging by the tree on the right. There simply isn't room for the roof to descend on the other side with towers fitting in.

There is absolutely no way that the 2 turrets at the front could be attached to the tower like that. It looks like they are floating on air. I'm not entirely sure which tile set you are using, but if it is the one I think it is, then have a look at the way the small turrets are shaped in, as it were, so that they look like they are attached to the wall.
  6. @Kes good point on the back wall. I believe i should raise it 2 more tiles.

I use only the RTP tileset and alterations of it, and i'm not really sure what you meant with the 2 front towers.

  7. @Skyquake Here is a snip pic from one of my maps which is more like your reference image.

The point of similarity is that the base of the turret is clearly attached to the wall. If you look at your map, you will see that about 75% of the base of your turrets is unsupported.

This makes them look like they are floating in mid air. They are proportionally too big to be turrets. Again look at the relative sizes of the turrets in your reference image and in my image and compare them to the size of yours. The simplest solution is to bring down the bases to ground levels so that they are not floating.
  8. @Kes i understood now. I'll see what I can do about it though since I don't think I have many choices to juggle with in the RTP.
  9. @Christian777 i like the animation. I just feel the hero needs to ne paced a few pixels higher. He is not in the same line as the mob.
  10. @Christian777 I like how intricate these animations are. Bravo so far~!

@superkoopa This is a great style, I think they can be highly engaging. You can set up a variety of moods and atmosphere through these methods. I've liked the idea of doing this sort of style while having changing environments. Like rainstorms, ticking clocks, or frayed sparking wires. Keep up the good work, the current work has great lighting.
  11. Heya, figured I'd post a little something I've been working on, it's just concept art at the moment really, going for a graphic novel vibe.

  12. Playing around with Parallax mapping

It's even more time consuming than I imagined but slowly making some progress. The assets are from PV Games which I have several packs of between DLC purchases and Humble Bundle.....
Seriously learning how to use layers in Gimp doing this though........
  13. @zzmmorgan I've merged your thread with the Game Map and Screenshots thread.
  14. Power to the merging! Efficiency has been achieved. Good day mod human! You are most murda.

Stab everything! May the gears of Xeno be honored forever. I shall become a poet. Continue on mortals.
  15. I decided to change the way the first map of Torn Skies looks, because it no longer matched the style of the maps from the first section of the game. I think it looks better like this.

Left is the old version, right is the new version.

Speaking of maps from the first section, this is from when the player first comes to the village at the start of the game.
    Spoiler
The "Strange Woman" is speaking a language from the world of Torn Skies, because she didn't yet realize that the player is a human who doesn't speak that language.

And this is a small, optional dungeon in the first area of the game.

  18. Hi there!
This is a world map for a really short game I'd like my close friends to play.
I'd be really grateful if anyone would like to suggest what I could improve on.
I can already see that in my opinion there is too much land and too little sea, so I also ask if you agree or disagree with me with this observation.
It's my first world map, so it probably will contain many errors and will be very basic.
    Thank you!
