@Finnuval Those characters do look cramped up there in that corner don't they lol I'm planning on adding a few more animations, particularly a spray of water from behind the boat, though I never even thought about the ropes, good call! That would be pretty easy to implement too, just adjust it from the middle by a pixel and it should do the job.
yeah it makes it look like the ship is cropped a bit to tight haha.
And glad to have sparked a new idea xD

Okay, how is it looking now? I'm adding a bit more variety of corals but other than that this is what I have. The bottom and top of the map shown here:

  3. @VitaliaDi I don't know how possible this is, but I think the bigger fish in the foreground should block view of everything behind them. Could I possibly see a gif or vid of what it looks like in-game?
  4. @fluffymonster
Those big fish are actually in the background behind everything else ezgif-1-b9a933d848a9.gif

It's looking good! I'd make the big fish a bit smaller and see how it takes to them being pictures paralleled in the background since they're supposed to be in the foreground, right?

    Thanks for the tips!
They're meant to be background since the player is swimming up, now horizontal so I'm going for depth with those fish

Oh, so the big fish aren't in the foreground? Edit: What I mean is, are they supposed to be big fish?
  8. @fluffymonster
Yeah they are supposed to be giant fish swimming a little farther away than everything else
  9. @VitaliaDi looking good. All I would suggest is maybe have one of the big fish swim in the opposite direction? It's a little to orderly to feel completly natural.
  10. My dark woods dungeon with the lost forest & ruins style.

the dungeon is lacking of light , is this okay for this kind of dungeon ?woods.pngWoods 2.png
  11. @Ed19 I think that is pretty much spot on.

How does my HUD look? (You can also comment on the beach and the characters.)
  13. @zakthepower The trees and sprites are quite nice, though the mapping needs some filling out, I'd add some shells or rocks, maybe some crabs. I really like your HUD, particularly the map!

Going to make a post of my own. Question, whats cooler than Pirates?

    Answer

    Sky Pirates of course!

NOTE Edited Suikoden sprite as a place holder

@Finnuval I added animation to the ropes, well I made a start at least lol

I grew up with Power Puff Girls. :kaoluv: It's looking good so far! As superkoopa said, could use a little more decoration on the beach like star fish, shells, etc.
@superkoopa The animations look really cool! Is that going to be the title screen or them sailing in-game?

Looks good. My only concern with the HUD would be it is spread out over almost all corners and depending on the pace of the gameplay that can get a bit annoying andd straining on the neck (like watching a tennis match lol) xD

@superkoopa cool. Now the whole screen comes to life much better!
  16. @fluffymonster Right now the idea I have in mind is for it to be a travelling mechanic in-game, thinking about adding ports/docking bays to each location. I originally thought of it as it as an upgrade in typical rpg fashion, though I need to be realistic with the scope of my project lol having it as the title screen is a good idea!

@Finnuval I figured you might like that lol
  17. Ooo, that's cool. Yeah, I get that. It's very easy to get ambitious and want to do a lot of things or things outside of your scope. Glad I could help. :kaoluv:
  18. @superkoopa haha guess I'm easy to please :p

Personally I would advice against using it as a title screen though if you also intend to use it as a travel screen/system (over exposure and such).
And as a travel screen I really like it. (ofcourse I'm biased partially since you are using suikoden characters as place holder rofl)
  19. @fluffymonster Oh definitely, I think I've finally learned my lesson in that regard lol though it is said less is more, and i'm going to keep telling myself that! xD

@Finnuval The idea of having that map (or another) as the title screen, and then being able to load straight into it seamlessly would be cool. My only concern would be being able to make it work, probably need a script, which until I can program myself, an idea i'm not so fond of. Though it would get overused if I didn't have other maps to back it up, we'll see!

Edit Suikoden! I'm so glad I kept on to my copy from years back, worth a ton now!
  20. @superkoopa I'm probably gonna do mine in steps. Important first, then scale down. That way if I decide I don't want to worry about the other stuff, I can just leave it be since the less important stuff is nice, but wouldn't be game breaking to be without.
