@Princess No, I don't mean a shelf, I mean what looked like a set of shelves. I think part of the problem about the perception of it being so far forward was that, until I brightened my monitor, what is in fact a shadow looked like it was part of the piece of furniture. Which leads into a different point, i.e. the shadows for that piece of furniture and all the others. It is a complete rectangle in shape and falls forward, making the light source be behind it. However, the light source would not produce shadows like that. If it came from the window that would make it a slightly angled shadow, as light spreads as it comes in through an opening. But despite the bottom of the windows being lighter, implying that it is daylight outside, you haven't shown even a small amount of light coming in there. Therefore your only light source is the one at the bottom of the map, as indicated by the change near the door. That light source cannot produce the shadows you have shown.
And, btw, when someone is trying to give feedback - even if you don't think their comment is justified - it is never a good move to describe it as "silly". That sort of attitude is unlikely to elicit the feedback you want.

The way you originally replied, that phrase makes it seem as if you're trying to be smart. You know, in the not nice way. It comes off that way because of the fact you said it at all, instead of leaving it with your original sentence. I said it was silly because it sounded funny to me simply because of how you worded it. You shouldn't take offense so easily over something, especially when my choice of words make it pretty clear that isn't the intention. The lights at the windows could be taken as sunlight, but that isn't the case. Notice that the lights at the windows are darker than the one at the door. That's because of the light at the door coming from a man-made source just outside, whereas the ones at the windows are simply moonlight which is almost completely blocked by the curtains.
The light at the door wouldn't come in far enough to actually affect anything past the corridor, it isn't meant to be the reason for the shadow direction. Yes though, I did not think about the windows having much effect on the objects inside. The shadows were more the general direction I chose as I wasn't really thinking about the light source being strong enough to affect much. Though with there being no actual light source on the inside, I suppose it would make more sense that if it is light enough for shadows to be cast, they must adhere to the only light visible in close proximity. I'm not an expert in lighting or shadows, so I will probably make mistakes like that for a whilst until I have more experience. -
@Princess If the light from the door is not strong enough to affect the furniture at the back of the room, and the windows are not a light source, then - given the general darkness of that map - there should probably be no shadow at all in front of the furniture. You can't have shadows without a light source to create them. I know that shadows are difficult, it is something we all struggle with at first, but what I found helped was looking very specifically at real life shadows to see how they happen, how dark they were, and so on.

Yes, I know that.Bathrooms were not in homes during that period. We've only been including those in homes on a regular basis for just over one-hundred years.
But for some reason, your interior made me think it was modern (despite it having no modern appliances).
Maybe it's the type of wooden floor, or the carpet. I can't tell why, but I have trouble imagining it the interior of a house from that old time.
And maybe it's just me. -

I don't think the floor tile fits an old-style either. I should really just make my own floor tiles. -
My Choice Window is ready. Thoughts?

@EthanFox I want to learn how to do that in RPGMaker. ^^ (Yeah I was in traditional animation in the past. I get one or two stories that could use something that similar. ;) )

@Archeia Is it normal that there is no shadow at all?

This is a snapshot of an interior house tileset from our game.

@Nightblade50 It looks like lava is running behind the building in a way that makes said building very unsafe. I'd put more land around it, unless it's meant to be built above lava.

oh shoot you're right! xD I'll fix it

This is my world map concept
World map
(to those who can't see it, you would have to have your mouse click on the line until it changes to like a pointer. I do not know why the picture is acting up. My apologies for the inconvenience)
I'm still thinking of the purpose of the islands would be specifically. but all I know is that the floating island is where the ruler is.
And you can take a boat or train to get to each island. -

So I'm trying to perfect my Parallax Mapping. The game I'm making is supposed to have a pretty simplistic style choice (like the houses as you can see in the picture), but I was having issues with the shadow on normal trees - for some reason one half of the trees shadow was darker than the other half. Anywho I had this cute idea where instead of the traditional tree I'd just have tree tops hang over you that you can walk through if they're transparent (which also leads to potential for hidden paths).
What do you think of this simple map - particularly the trees. (it's not complete, I haven't added flowers and such yet).
Edit: Deleted the thumbnail. -
Merging with Game & Map Screenshots thread.
@overlordmikey Personally I don't see a reason to parallax map that simple of a map. Because of how the trees are shaded, it looks less like tree tops to me and more like there are fields of soybeans around the house, so I think if you want to use that method you'll need to find a different tree to use.
