  1. I have been talking about this for years, but I realised it might be more fruitful I made the conversion and people would see themselves what I mean: XP has thinner but taller characters, and due to those differing proportions its animals and monsters are actually the perfect size for MZ - just not the right colors and setup. So if you like what you see and you don't have it yet, just get XP when it is one the next massive sale (which is super cheap for all these things, right?). When I am posting this, XP is on sale for 2,50 ;3

This means, the terms of use are different for this one:
Free for commercial & non-commercial use, as long as I get a free copy of the game.
You may edit these for your own use, but don't post them anywhere without my permission. This includes no asking for edits of them in request boards etc.
    Credits to Avery.
You need to own RMXP to be allowed to use them legally (so if you own it, I don't care if you use it in Ace or XP or MV or any other RM).

Besides that, those sheets are plug and play to use :)

Also a note: while there are converters that just cut off the left column, I converted these sheets manually as some movement cycles needed some other operations than that to work in 3 frames instead of 4 and some other detail work.

  2. Very Nice!
  3. We don't deserve you
  4. Truly excellent. Thank you.
  5. You are amazing, been trying to do this on my oWn and I suck lol, (alWays make them off center)
only just recenty got decent enough at tileset editing this makes my life so much easier ^^
(sorry for the odd Ws just my W and tWo key are out on my keyboard lol certainly makes typing up signs in photoshop a fun challenge)
  6. Thank you all for your kind words, I was a little worried that this was a little of a nieche topic, but I am very happy how many of you seem to enjoy (and more important: use) them!
I am adding some of the support graphics here, I also consider adding some of my own old XP works converted for MZ use later (I mostly think about the boar and about the down pose of the large Behemoth here...).
Here is a little preview since the white sparkles kinda vanish on the white background here:

  7. So, while I could simply just cut off the left column of all XP chars (RTP and my own) and throw them in here, you see that I want to provide a result that a) works as well in style and color as possible and b) has a corrected walk cycle (some 4 frames to 3 frames conversions need some frame rearrangement or some animations need to change from stepping to turning therefore).
Also, while my old XP things are not all super bad, some are just not the quality I wanna provide here.

The "bison" here needed actually some additional manual fixes, some careful color adjustment (the color ramp was kinda off... and I had to rearrange the frames. But in the end, if it gives this big boi a second chance to star in your games, it should be worth it :3

The other three were some of my later XP works and therefore qualitywise just needed the color adjustment and in case of the boar a frame rearrangement. As with the bison, even if I made them years ago, I am still happy if that work is appreciated :3
Even after that time I still like a lot how I turned the chess figure here into a magical guard mecha thing xD

  8. hey Im still grateful plus all these examples help me figure it out myself, trying to make a larger machine enemy cause I need a boss mon that has sf vibes and... sadly its a frankenstein mess lol
also yer stuff looks really cool
  9. This was a fantastic idea! Thank you so much Avery for doing all this hard legwork. I realized around November/December of last year that the XP graphics match well with Hiddenone's Hine sprites. Not sure if she did that on purpose or not, but it got me wondering if I should convert some of the XP to MV. You have saved me so much time.
  10. So, I've been thinking whether it might be possible to try and port some of my favorite tileset elements from XP to MZ - of course without scaling, becauce that makes them weirdly blurry and changes the lineweight. And while - as with everything else - there is no one quick way for all, I think I did a quite decent job on these palm trees:

Here is a before and after, you see that we still loose some detail, but in the endit blends better into the MZ style:

The simple question is: is that something you would like to see? I never know how many people own XP, that kinda limits the pool of people who could be interested in those edits xD
  11. After playing around with the palm tree I tried my hand at converting an actual set, this one consists out of tiles from four different tilesets and my own XP edits sprinkled in, all rearranged, a good chunk of it edited to tile with the different grid and color corrected and dithering adjusted.

I don't have the time to actually test it, but it is intended to work with MZ tiles as if, so if one of you would give feedback on how it looks ingame I would be very happy!

Also remember, while everything in this thread is an edit of the default XP stuff, the my credits apply, especially here where my own work is mixed in.

  12. As an owner of XP I very much appreciate your work converting the assets. I have always liked the XP RTP more than any of the others.

It's so often the little things that make the difference e.g. the tiny weeds top right corner of this tile sheet - after a bit of editing I worked them to death in Ace games, but they looked dreadful in MZ. But here they are again, ready to go. I am particularly grateful for the other ground clutter as well and the ruins.
  13. WOW! :kaoluv: the palm trees looks so awesome! THANK YOU!
  14. Love this set Avery. I'll be trying it out this weekend on a new map I'm building.
  15. Love your work!
And now there's a big sale on Steam, RPGMaker Festival 2023.
With lots and lots of discounts.
I'm thinking of getting the older versions for a real bargain. Are they worth it?
  16. @Draegon At the very least having the older engines means that you can legally use resources based on their rtp, including Avery's lovely edits and conversions.
  17. Some things convert easier than others and especially the 32x32 to 48x48 from tiling stuff like floors and walls is kinda... special. But nonetheless, I was able to turn the default Flesh Cave wall into something that now works really nicely even as autotile in MZ! :)

  18. I'm not sure if I'd be able to use that autotile since I don't have XP...

You do need to own XP to use it. Luckily, someone gifted it to me, so I can use it if I wanted to. XP isn't too expensive compared to MZ and MV, last I looked, and the resources are pretty cool.
I actually have a positive history with XP, since I used to use it as a teen. Now I prefer MZ, and am super excited about Unite, but I'll always have a soft spot for XP, where I began.
  20. The walls and ground are really tricky to port, but I think I found a good way to bring the matching flesh floor to MZ.

And here is what you can already make with those tiles:
