  1. I would love it if you played my game, Geiken, if you are interested.
  2. So it's been a while since I've visited this site and quite frankly, I'm amazed that people are still requesting to have their game be played even though I haven't been here much, what with a full-time job and working on my own MV project. I've also been upgrading my rig and checking out RPG Maker Discords and other areas of interest and kind of flew by this place. But I know I still have this thread and would like to keep this thing going.

So, that's why I'm bumping this thread! If you are interested in having me want to play your project, I can absolutely play it through for you! Just remember that my time and schedule is very strict so I won't be able to get around to some games. But regarding that, I will always try and upload on weekends so that it is convenient for everyone.

If you want me to play through the game, read the first page for all the details when submitting a game, then post a link here or DM me on here and I will see about getting around to it.

    Thank you everyone! <3
  3. Hello! I would like for my game to played. I posted it two posts ago, but here it is again:

    Geiken

    Thanks!

Added it to the list! Apologies for not seeing the first post but if there were any updates between now and then I would prefer to play that version, if at all possible.
  5. There've been many updates, yes. Downloading it now will guarantee the most recent version. Thanks!
  6. Hey! Thanks for taking the time to play some of other people's games. Time willing, would you be interested in trying out my VX Ace game, "The Root of All Evil"? It's a finished game, not a demo.

    https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/the-root-of-all-evil-a-micro-rpg-rsw.64205/

I released it some time ago, and recently did an updated rerelease with a bunch of changes, and I'm interested in feedback. Both good and bad! You mention that your comments can be harsh, and that's A-OK, long as it's all your honest feedback! I'd say what the game is about, but sounds like from your opening post you'd rather have the game speak for itself.

I will absolutely add it to the list! Although I can be harsh sometimes, I don't let it be my defining characteristic. There exists a line between being harsh just to be harsh, and actually giving positive feedback. I like to think of it as more of the latter.
  8. Can you provide a link to your channel? Unless there is a link and I missed it. Thanks!
  9. Awesome LP thread Arin :) I remember you helped me with setting up a random variable for a an event over at discord. Youre a great helper and LPer! :LZScheeze:

Ahh, did I? I tend to help out people who need help but I don't remember that particular episode. Well anyways, thanks for the compliment!
  11. Yup! It was definitely you! Bc I looked at your videos and saw a LP you did for a person named Shin I believe. You had posted it on discord before earlier this year in February and I checked it out haha

Unfortunately, I can't really speak very highly of your game. The combat is very boring as its the default style of VX Ace. The only real enjoyment I got out of the game were the boss fights, because those prioritized strategy and using your skills effectively. The rest of the time, however, was spent slogging through boring fights that just seemed to impede my progress from getting from Point A to Point B.

I like the dungeoncrawler aspect of the game...but you literally have taken the "crawl" portion of dungeoncrawler too seriously. Especially regarding the fact that maps are tremendously large and boring, devoid of life or any sustenance. It also doesn't help that the player can't dash wanting to get from one place to another quicker.

I got about an hour in (defeated the Undead boss and his minions and that was the point where I stopped) before I got tired. There's a lot more sustenance that needs to go into the game. The strategy part of battle is a good start, but it is lacking everywhere else. It lacks engagement. It lacks coherent maps that look alive. It lacks story. Just because it's a dungeoncrawler game means that there can't be some commodity of story readily available. Backstory of other adventurers who tried to make it through the dungeon and died, backstory of the shopkeeper and how he got stuck down in the dungeon as said shopkeeper, things of that nature. It's just...lacking in depth and polish. It lacks the ability to pull the player in with a consistent theme and idea.

But from what I witnessed today, I was not very impressed.
  15. Hey there! Got back from work, and while I was gone, you did the playthrough! Thanks for taking the time to play.... even though you didn't like it! Heck, that's almost more reason to be thankful, you stuck it out for an entire hour of not having fun just to give honest feedback, and I appreciate it!

My job as a game designer is to make you have fun. I do have reasons for some of your complaints. However, my reasons don't matter in the face of your ending feeling. If you think it's boring and bad, than the game is boring and bad, regardless of if I can explain why I made what I made.

I do find funny some of your complaints on things you assumed to be true because it's an RPG Maker game, but actually are not true in my game. Like, enemy AIs are redone. All enemies, bosses and random encounters, pick their actions at the start of a turn, not right before moving like you assumed 'cause the engine default works like that. And the Mermen only have 1 potion each, unlike you assuming they had infinite. The enemies are on a totally even playing field to you, not being immune to anything, having to predict a turn in advance, and whatnot, but people just assume they cheat 'cause every other RPG has cheating enemies!

I think this game could use an overhaul in it's non boss enemies. Everything about them. How you encounter them, what their stats are, the rewards for beating them. Everything! I got a handful of players to test this game, to find common critiques. One of these is a general lack of finding enemies... fun! I put a ton of effort into making enemies varied, unique weaknesses, stats, AIs, everything... But I must've failed somewhere, 'cause you are not the only one to say that the Dungeon Crawl itself isn't that fun. The bosses may be, but the enemies, you know, the BULK of the game, seem to be holding it back. And you NEVER want the main selling point to be a downside.

I made this game awhile ago. I'm happy enough with the end result of it, but I know it's issues. More and more I'm aware, as people point out different things that don't work, things that leech away at the things that DO work. And that's totally fine! I like honest feedback. Believe me, this game has been UPDATED since it's first release, tons of overhauls everywhere to make it better, based on player feedback.

You mentioned at the end of your video that you were writing me a comment, but I haven't seen anything in my inbox, so I'm assuming you were typing what was written in this topic?

If you want to talk more, I'd love to hear from you! This game is something I'm really proud of sense, you know, it's the only game I've ever finished, but it doesn't resonate with a ton of people. I'm always trying to find better ways of getting what I was aiming for to the player. Again, it's my job as a designer to make YOU have fun, not your job as a player to figure out what I'm doing.

    Thanks for your time!

    Ah, THERE's your response!

    Ah, THERE's your response!

You're very welcome. I know a lot of things didn't really work to taste for me, which is fine: It's the reason I do these things. I'm actually very easily pleased when something works the way it is intended, and I'm the opposite when it's the opposite way. At the very least, if you want a start in the right direction, to reduce the size of the maps or add a Dash function. I guess a Dash function would break the mechanic of having your Gold matter because you would abuse running everywhere. If that's the case though, the maps need to be severely downsized. And also, yes, random encounters need to be overhauled. It's not really the case that they aren't boring (a lot of them are, though, but that's not the point I'm trying to make here), its just that you get nothing for defeating them, and that is an immediate turn off for me. You get Gold for all your hard work.....yay? I mean, there isn't really a reason to fight random encounters, but the fact that you can't escape without losing some Gold in the process means you HAVE to fight. Me personally, I don't like being forced to fight; if I want to escape a fight, let me escape a fight.

All in all, there's definitely a lot of things that are too taste personally, but it's all good!

Will be going live with Rainbow Road and if I finish that some more Geiken tonight. Wanted to give you a heads up in case you were around.
