Thalzon's MV Battlers

Hey everyone. With the release of MV I've taken on the idea of doing MV battlers. These will be different from my other ones. Differences are below:


- These battlers are all side view.


- These battlers will take on a more universally cartoony look. Sorry to those who liked my gorier stuff, but this time I aim to have a more consistent style.

These are free for non-commercial or commercial use with RPG Maker MV, VX Ace, VX, or any RPG Maker. Please notify me via PM on how to credit me for their use, but be sure to actually have a GAME NEAR COMPLETION before asking!


If you do not show me some evidence of a game well along in production I will ignore your message, because I can only assume you have just started on your game.

That looks great!!

Those shadows do look pretty impressive. Especially the deer! The giant bee's shadow looks a little off to me, though. I think it's the wings, they look a little too blobby.

I think the shadows might be too light. I'm gonna put them in the editor and test them.

These are awesome, really like the look of all of them! 

Unlike Ukuki, I prefer the lighter shadow. What I am less certain about is the black outline. While it sort of looks okay with the grey wolf, I think it looks harsh on the others. Other than that, I think the style and quality are excellent..

The shadows would look better if they were actually drawn /hand projected instead of just a flattened, darkened and blurred version of the battler.

Still, they're looking great! Good job!

Okay I think it was just the colour contrast between these and the RTP enemies. Yours look washed out compared to the colours of the RTP monsters. Maybe a slightly darker contrast would help? 

I think less detailed and shorter shadows would be better.  They look good, but it makes it look like the sun is quite low in the sky to get that kind of shadow, and it's a little too obvious that it's a modified silhouette.  It draws too much attention to itself instead of supporting the look of the battler.  I think the black outline is a little too harsh, but the rest of the style is really nice.  I like them.

thalzon your battlers are literally The Best and I would stock a whole game with them, so whee keep it up~ <W<

I like the heavier black outlines around the battlers, of course I'm a fan of the whole cartoony look since I do the same type of thing with my own battlers (although I don't capture the same detail you can do). I kind of agree with what sharm is saying about the shadows though.

These look great! They quite match the style of MV from all appearances.

Those look awesome! :) Are you, by any chance, planning on bringing back any of your front view battlers? Maybe you still have them somewhere in larger and just need to re-export them or something like that. We certainly can't expect you to remake them from scratch. :) If you don't have them, did you try resizing them with some software, like Yanfly did for his icons? Those look pretty good, and I wonder which method he used.

Beautiful. I think those black outlines is a great way to make 'em look consistent. I'm a huge fan of your battlers, and I'm certainly gonna use the ones done with this style, when I get MV one day.

Wooow I didn't expect to see that topic coming up that early :D . They sure fit the whole thing perfectly and I have nothing to say about the shadows. I'll test some in game and tell you if I notice anything. :)
