  1. Even Ellie's aura shining bright and good,
Could not brighten angry Prim's sour mood,
A dark look on Prim's face full of intimidation,
Even the nymphs will respect her orientation
  2. HAHAHAHAHA, guys this is...HILARIOUS!

@Dalph thank YOU and your sister for coming up together with this masterpiece. And for sharing all the attempted expressions, those are fantastic.

The final result is quiet perfect and the POEMSSSS hahahaha
How long did it take you to come up with that?

    The thing I adore
    even more than Prim's scowl
    Is one simple fact
That this elf has a towel
  3. @TESTOSTERONE
Yeah she wasn't supposed to have the towel on during that scene but I feel like without it, the image wouldn't have been as funny. Glad you enjoyed.

Writing poetry is easy because I'm good with rhymes.
  4. Sister: Brother, why are you commissioning naked elf girls and writing poetry about them?

The real issue was my sister whining the whole time, asking to draw naked Ryder instead (be careful what you wish for, next time you might get that!). She really hates to draw girls, lol.
  6. Dalph: N-no reason at all.

  7. @TESTOSTERONE
Artists are supposed to draw naked bodies as much as they can anyway...for...cough...anatomy studying.
The real reason was me wanting to put my sister out of her comfort zone, because she usually doesn't draw stuff like that, but I think she did a decent job overall.
I might ask her to finish it one day maybe, alongside @TRIDIUM 's Scarlet.

    Haha, can you blame her?

Yes, let’s give her as much practice as possible. Who is next on the list?
  9. :rheh:Reid: Yes! More practice sounds lovely

I guess when you'll make a reverse scene in Part 2 with Ryder in the Forest of Gayblins, that's when I'll tell her to make another one. She might be happier too with it.
  11. Why did this make me think about that one scene in final fantasy 7. You know the one?

Is @rpgLord69 actually making progress with episode 2?
  12. @TESTOSTERONE
Make it happen then. Crossdressing Ryder for the fangirls confirmed.
  13. I said I had a word document for you.
Baby word document, compared to my normal spiels, but hopefully useful nonetheless. I don't know if I played the most up-to-date version, so if you changed anything, or fixed any of these issues already, forgive me and ignore me :yswt:

I do wanna say beforehand, my comments may seem harsh, or skewed to the more negative. I want you know this, you've got a good game. My feedback here was less aimed at this game, and more aimed at you as a dev, for any future projects you do. Since, ya know, this is a complete game. I don't expect you to change a lot of stuff anymore, but I want feedback to still be useful.

    Alrighty. Let's get into it.

    The Good
    • The extra animation into the on-map sprites. For things like moving or attack, like when Arwen casts ice on Ryder. Adds some extra life to cutscenes!
    • Your dialogue is as light-hearted and funny as ever. I’m with Ryder; fancy clothes are overrated. Battle gear is just fine for a dance!
    • Title screen is pretty – just…use something other than the spinning gears. Why gears lol?!
    • Music choices are, as before, on point. Got some really pretty ones in there <3
    • Forget Ryder. I’m shipping Prim and Arwen.
    • “Lost Soul (Dead?)” …You. I’m shaking my head at you. Get outta here with your me-level pun

    The Bad
    • The BGM is super loud for some odd reason, even setting it to 20%
    • I’m not actually a fan of the voice acting! No reflection on the actual voices themselves, but the VA doesn’t do it for me in this game. Conversations are partly VA’d and cut off when you expect them to continue, random VA in the middle of conversations when there previously wasn’t any…it’s not consistent. And the VA in battle happening all the time? If you’re going to do VA, consider an option to turn it off. I appreciate the extra lengths you went to to get VA in your game, but it’s a solid minus for me I’m afraid
-Adding on to this, specific audio clips are way overused – the biggest offender to me is Prim’s giggle. It’s almost every single dialogue line she has
    • Ryder’s skill having timed input. Again, consistency issue
    • The battle UI is pretty cluttered. I’ve seen this mentioned before, so I won’t beat you over the head further. Take it as a note for future projects :3
    • I still can’t put the ankle booties on Ryder. How dare you.
    • Poison NEVER wearing off is, not gonna lie, really annoying. Granted…I probably could’ve bought antidotes or something in town. At least have a chance to break poison every turn. RNG is better than no hope – or, in this case, an annoyance
    • Poison persisting after battle is a big sin. There’s no reason for this
    • The Gale face, character sprite, and battler don’t match [wait...didn't I harp on you about this before?]
    • Was there a point to giving Prim the Remove Doom skill? It wasn’t needed for the boss battle. If the boss was supposed to use some kind of Doom skill on me, it never did

    The Bugs
    • Some tiles are wonky; they draw properly if you’re behind them, but will draw partially on top of the character sprite if in front. Things like trees, signs, etc. I think this is a side-effect of your parra mapping. There’s quite a few of these little issues, so I won’t focus on it or list all incidents I found. Just bear it in mind for any future projects that may use parra mapping
    • Take a look at the gab convo for the slime king boss fight. Arwen’s name appears over her face sprite one gab, then centered on the next. Also, if you progress the fight before reading all the gabs, the UI gets SUPER clunky, with everything that’s going on
    • Minor issue: I can’t access the right bed in Elizar’s cabin from the side; only from the bottom
    • Elizar’s basic attack has Arwen’s voice effect
    • Hey, look!
      Double Arwen!
    • 1697417872094.pngI got the box when I left the shrine, it proc’d the mini scene with her, then I stop on the stairs and started the ‘leaving shrine’ scene. So I got double Arwen haha
    • You can walk on water (plants) in the shrine! No, but really, I can use the plants to walk on water
    • Arwen has a Prim nametag in the Endless Forest, during the first scene there
    • There’s a weird red flash on screen in the catacomb basement whenever Prim’s picture appears…I can’t tell if a bug (please fix) or intentional (please fix lol)

    The Other [aka, Cythera rambling]
    • There’s a couple performance issues, random lag spikes, animation delays, screen tearing
    • Why don’t the enemies have action sequencing? Actors do; even basic or repeated action sequences are better than none on enemies. Especially when one side of the field has it
    • You put all this polish into your project and still stuck mostly with the basic RTP animations? I’m curious as to why. There’s so many free or cheap animation packs out there – and most come with a sample game with the animations already made. They’re simply higher quality and more visually pleasing than RTP animations. Even just changing hues or taking a pre-made animation and swapping the image for another! Creates some quick, ‘custom’ animations
I won’t ding you too harshly here since, I get it. Animations are PAINSTAKING. That’s why this is in the ‘Other’ section and not ‘Cons’. But I know you can do more
    • You can increase the ‘frequency’ on the event page to make it walk more…frequently? It’ll fix that step-stop-step-stop issue when Arwen is walking to her house in Fallhorn
    • I saw some comments about an optional sidequest boss you can do with OR without Arwen; I’m assuming that’s Elizar. So of course, I went to do it with just Ryder. I was level 5, with some sneakers and a hat, and purchased no items. Didn't learn any new talents.
I can tell you, it is possible. I even got poisoned from the very first poison jello attack from the slime. I had poison the whole time. Against the slime, against the spider, against Elizar. I had to account for an extra 20 damage every single turn. So yeah, I was at a disadvantage (totally okay!) and still won on first attempt.
IF you allow players to do a fight like that solo, you need to account for the possibility that, well, they WILL do it solo. The length of that battle due to the freeze and sleep stun-locking me… Yes, you ‘intend’ for players to do it with Arwen. But then, why not just force the player to have 2 party members? If you approach Elizar solo, maybe have him or Ryder say something like ‘this fight will not be fair; come back with another’. If you give the player options, you need to balance for ALL options. Or don’t offer the option. It looks bad on your game, however well-intended it may be.
My opinion? An easy fix: remove freeze and sleep from that fight (stun-locking a 1-character party is usually a no-go). That's it. That's all.
    • That door in the catacombs…it’s not gonna stay shut, is it?
*two minutes later* Oh, WE’RE gonna open it? No, no, that’s fine. Great idea. Totally onboard with that. Not at all concerned it’ll release a swarm of the undead into the academy

    And that's that.
That'll probably be it from me for feedback. Your game's got a lot of love and effort in it, and while enjoyable, this just isn't the kinda game I play for long periods of time :yswt:
Still, I played the OG demo and wanted to see what you'd done with it. Plus, I had to meet the 3 ladies!

Congrats on finishing your game; I look forward to seeing what else you make in the future!
  14. Honestly I was gonna draw Prim but cross dressing Ryder is very tempting. I can give him ankle booties.

  15. Adding onto this for clarity's sake.

Poison persisting out of battle is only really a problem if -
A: Your HP keeps dropping for every step on the overworld
B: It doesn't go away naturally.

Both of which can be easily solved with both the step counter function (latter) and a quick and dirty plugin (former).

As for the availability of antidotes, I would have cheaped out and just given you two free ones before you fought the enemy that has the status... since @TESTOSTERONE was already kind enough to program in an auto-potion battle event for one of the mini-bosses if I remember correctly.

Yeah, that's been my gripe the entire time with the optional encounter. Was never that it was hard even from the first time it was complained about, just that it wasn't fun since it wasn't built to work for a single person.

Hence why I gave my suggestions in that other post I did.

Likewise, I think many RPGs (not just Wind Ryder) would benefit from putting in a pity system if they get screwed over from getting damaged or statused too many times or for too long.

Mash Z when the turn ends if you have full TP to break out of poison at the cost of your TP, or whatever. Something that would be cool for casual and minmaxers alike.

    Precisely.
I like to break combat in games. I love taking challenges and wrecking any strategy, balance or, difficulty the dev may have intended. There's a strat I'm 'supposed' to use to defeat a particular boss? Haha, nope. Let me show you a crazy, dangerous, and stressful way...

So when I (admittedly) grazed the comments I picked up on the boss and how people weren't enjoying it. I got SO EXCITED. I was ready to pop in here with a dumb strat to solo Elizar!

But...nope. My services were not needed :ysad: It's NOT a hard fight to solo. It is, unfortunately, a long, boring fight to solo.
Devs need to remember: the more options you give your players, you multiply your workload. Something as simple as "fight solo or with Arwen?" clearly causes a huge divide in enjoyable gameplay.
  17. @Cythera Heeeey! You're right! This word document feels much smaller from the previous one. Haha.

Oh my goodness, you caught an error in the forest of lesbians? You didn't go there, did you?!!

Thank you, Cythera! Fixed most of the weird bugs on your list. Did you make it to the end?

And alright alright, you and @RCXGaming have twisted my arm again. I am nixing the poison staying after battle. And going to do SOME sort of yelling at the player to bring a companion with you going off to fight Elizar and such.

@Ms Littlefish Ah crossdressing Ryder and Cloud, getting all the unwanted male attention. Is that what it's like being a girl?
  18. Just the entrance; then I saw the quest and went "meh, don't wanna level up anymore. Too strong already" haha
Why? Is there a boss fight in there? :kaopride:Should I go break it?
  19. Lol, no no, stop breaking things. That quest is not for the innocent.

Surely you have an intuition about these things.

I've been working on it slowly, continuing writing the intro, thinking about other scenes, combat, skills and enemies etc. Why, did you want to use the nutcracker in part 2?

Blue hair flowing and standing 5 feet tall,
Her blows to the nuts make mighty foes fall,
She'll bust your balls and end your dreams,
Harder than SGHarlekin and his RM-streams
