  1. It goes without saying that Battle Royale games such as Battlegrounds or Fortnite are popular. I myself have never played them. I watched videos of these games but just never got the desire to play them for some odd reason. Still, they must have something going for them. Out of curiousity and hoping to learn some new things about game design, I would like to ask those of you who love this genre:

    1. Why is this genre fun for you?

    2. If you were to design a Battle Royale game, what features would you put in it?
  2. 2. At this point I wouldn't. The genre has been overdone for now.

Someone once said the way to be successful in this crowded market is look at what everyone else is trying to do, and do something else. Granted, they were referring to how everyone is trying to make the same type of game, which is why we got like 100 Diablo clones, or 200 RTS games after StarCraft came out, and so on.
  3. For the most part, the quote on quote Battle Royale genre is basically just first person shooter with a different name. A lot of genres are, really. Frankly, I cannot stand first person shooters.
