Why I cant comment on some status updates?

Some status updates just don't have comment option on it. Is it something on profile config? Been bothering me since long time ago, now I finally asked this.

People can set the option to only let followers comment, so if you cannot comment that is what it is. Though FYI moderators can still comment even if you set it to that, so don't try it to hide from us anyone :)

I always thought it was because someone set you to ignore.

Now I don't need to feel so rejected anymore :)
