Hello Mastoyris!
I started to play your game today. As it says in the beginning, that it is a Beta version, I started to write down all the bugs etc I found while playing. I am gonna send that to you if that's okay for you?
I want to give you some feedback on the beginning of the game (the parts I played so far).
I hope that's okay
:)
What I can say so far is, that it's already noticible that you had a lot of ideas for the gameplay that you included into the game (like alchemy etc) which I think can be really interesting for the gameplay.
I have to say that the game is kind of confusing for me so far because there is a lot of stuff to do but to me it felt like I didn't know when to work on it. I think I missed all of the side quests in the first town because I went to
Story spoiler
look for the witch to help the girl
and thought that I couldn't finish the side quests so far because I didn't have the items etc.
But now it seems like I won't return so soon and I might have missed a lot.
Side quest Spoiler
Like for example I couldn't chop down the tree although I had the axe equipped and I thought I might have to find another ae if that's not a bug...but I never found one. But maybe I am not patient enough
Also, there are so many things I could buy and so many people that want to sell me stuff - but I don't have money. Even when I thought, I had money, there were so many new things that I ran out of money again quite soon although I didn't buy a single armor or weapon. So it feels like "very much stuff" at the beginning. Maybe you want it that way, it's just my impression. Because I don't really know what I should get for the money I have like what makes really sense.
There are also many people that lost something but most of them don't tell me where to look for their stuff and it's hard for me to know with which items I can interact and which items are just "decoration".
Also ( I don't know if that's because it's still the Beta-Version, but as you posted the game in "Completed" games I guess you won't change that that much anymore) most doors can't be opened, most people don't want to talk with me or have nothing to say...so it's hard for me to build a connection to that world.
Story spoiler
I don't even know who this Lenora-girl is - maybe my girlfriend - or why she is important to me
I really like some of the maps and the atmosphere you create with the leaves etc. and the animals. Also the clock ticking in some houses etc. creates a nice atmosphere.
But some town maps are also really big with houses where I can't enter the doors, which is a little sad in my opinion. I was looking for some stories and side quests or maybe some information about the town I was walking though.
Another thing is, that some of the fights at the beginnig take veeeery long because the enemies have a lot of HP. So I just sat there with klicking enter to hit them again and again.
That pacing and balancing stuff is not easy for me in the games I work on and I know that might have a reason, I just wanted to talk about it from a gamers perspective.
What I like is that you have different enemies and "secret places" I could look at.
I am really exited for the puzzles you mentioned in your explanation about the gameplay
That's it so far.
Edit:
I played a bit more but unfortunatly, I think I won't continue playing this game for now. This is just my opinion and my taste of course. The (random) fights get too boring for me to be honest because they take so long and I miss a deeper story so far.
I also think I might not be "good enough", but I don't know how to spend my money and I don't have enough of it to get a good "basicequipment". Grinding wouldnt be fun because the fights take so long. I wanted to craft potions etc because I needed them but I couldn't find out, how. Or maybe other characters can only do that when I talk to them but I only found one so far.
This is just my opinion and my taste of course. It would be interesting to know (if) what you will change on that game in the future because it would be nice to see more of it but I don't know if it''s just that my gameplay is not good enough/appopriate or if some parts are still not really balanced. I red in your text that the game is challanging, but I think thats not my "problem".
I think this game is not so "intuitiv" so far - I don't know how to know what I really need and what I can give away. There are also so many options of things that it's hard to decide what I should focus on with limited money. Maybe thats intentional - but then I'd wish to be able to find out more about the possibilities to take desiciones based on "knowledge" or "strategie" instead of just guessing.
I think there are a lot of interesting features in it but it's hard for the player to know how to use them in a smart way.
Just a thought: If possible, I wouldn't put the autosaveslot on the first positition because it's easy to overwrite it that way although it says that shouldn't happen.
Here is a list with the bugs I've found so far:
Bugs
- I looked at the letter in the first scene and it disappered all out of sudden for a text box that told me to press ESC to open the menu. That happened to other pictures as well later in game.
- You can not talk to the "witch" girl in the house next to where the old guy lives that wants you to cut down a tree
- I can take only some mushrooms, not all of them - although they look the same (same for some herbs on the floor that "block the way" or can not be taken in every forest I went trough)
- Maps llok beautiful but sometimes it's a little "too obvious", that you didn't use the whole chipset because it looks very "cut off" (for example the wood in the pond in the forest south of the first town)
- Wolf Fur has no explanation so I was not sure if I could use it to craft maybe armory or it was just something I could sell. This happens to other items as well.
- It's possible to walk over water at the ports and you can also run over some barrels in the city.
- Next to the jester (the "show guy") you can walk over the wood.
- The people around the jester don't talk to you before you watched the show.
