  1. I been thinking alot and still thinking, whatever should I go for the 3DS, Fes version one or the MV that seems to be the latest one at the moment. I want to start making RPG games as a way to express my story telling since writing it up seems to get me slow idea look and thought a simple visual RPG look would help. At first I thought MV sound good to use, but the news that it will be release for the console kinda stop me there, but the 3DS version sound good, but worry for the lack of flexibility.

I want to make a long RPG game that would probably take 3-6 hours to finish, so memory issue is a thing since I check the 3DS have a limit memory bank, but not sure if that the game to the PC. I like the Fes sprites and may want to use it, but wonder that includes all ( I mean ALL) DLC stuff. I like Disgaea characters so the 3DS sound good or I can wait and find someone who can make commission custom sprites ( if I am lucky to find one though)..... Which I need someone with a good art commission skills to make custom sprites and art portrait for original characters. I feel the 3DS is a good beginner start to learn how to make RPG games, but MV have less restraints on what to make or use.....probably........... Or should I use the older version instead?
  2. Where do you plan to do most of your work on your RPG? If it's going to be one your laptop or desktop, go with MV. If you're going to be on the move a lot where it'll be a lot easier to just pull out your 3DS, go with that version. You will get more flexibility and a larger screen to work on with MV. It all kind of depends on what makes the most sense for you and your current lifestyle.
  3. One thing to consider with a computer rpg maker is the amount of custom resources available to import by the community.
  4. Hmmm that kind of hard to figure out since I do work outside like in barns n noble (the one I go have a great space and a kitchen to order different, but expensive, food). But I work home since it is easier and can put my mind at ease (especially when sick). I like using the Disgaea character sprite from the Fes 3DS, and yeah, I not sure the pricing or how many character one can commissions.

If you're talking about the DLC here in the shop, then that DLC is for the PC-Versions only, it will most probably never be available on either 3DS/FES or the console MV.
There might be a tiny chance to get a tiny part of that (the original japanese DLCs) available on console versions, but most of it will not be available there for a lot of reasons.

The RPG Makers for console and handheld might share the names and be from the same japanese company, but they're not compatible or interchangable.
  6. You need to ask yourself how do you intend to release the game, and do you intend to sell it? Right now no 3ds games made with FES can be sold, and no one knows if the console version will allow you to sell your games either.

looks like the best bet is MV.

I was going to otherwise say go with FES, it sounds like you’ll have more fun but if your serious and want to develop for multiple platforms and make a custom rpg then MV.

The older versions will die. lots of dead links, ghost forums, lack of support e.t.c but if your already familiar then it might be best to stick to what you got.

Well I love RWBY series and Disgaea series and wish to make a expansion universe idea around it, as well working on original ideas I have. I like to earn some cash as a developer writer, though my artist skills are bad. I just started thinking getting into the idea to programming RPG games and hopefully become self aware by both Rooster Teeth and/or NIS America, though that just a crazy dream...... In truth I am a complete amateur and was afraid doing the developing RPG games due to low self confidence I have. Another way I can use Fes as a tutorial in RPG making and then try to work on the sprite from the game itself to make a almost exact copy of it........... Is that allow since there was no info on getting the sprite from the 3DS..???
  9. I’m not sure but I think you can use the FES resources in MV as long as you own both MV and FES.

Making a tutorial like game to learn is ok but...

No matter what don’t make your game twice. You will get incredibly frustrated and probably abandon all hope. You can make a sequel or a spiritual successor or even a spin off but never make it exactly the same. Firstly it’s impossible, second nobody would care and lastly it’s like murder, very painful and only results in tragedy (a dead project)
  10. So MV is my best bet. The problem is I don't think the Fes PC version have the DLC characters, specifically, the Disgaea characters' sprites. Maybe I can find artwork and animation battle sprite frame, but no idea on Chibi part...
  11. You can get the dlc and resize it to work for MV.
  12. .......uhhhh there nothing on that link....
  13. I see. I was referring to the chibi art work. Like the little sprite character move around the map. But thanks showing me that.
