  1. When do you think the next RPG MAKER ENGINE will release? Is ENTERBRAIN working on one or still thinking of it? When do you think it will come out? Maybe 2015 or later. Can't wait to see it. Or are they even making another? It's the question for these forums...
  2. Man...I hope its not too soon...I'm still learning this engine. o_O
  3. In my opinion, a patch with some additional features would be enough. Especially in the database features section, there's some room for more, right? Some more parameters, some more options here and there. I would totally buy a patch like that. :)
  4. Since they are making a whole new product to port VX Ace games over to mobile platforms, which itself is probably a few months away from prime time, I really doubt we'll see a new engine until at the very soonest, the end of 2015.

They wouldn't put a ton of cash and time in development and testing, just to have to at the very least do it partially again for a different RPG Maker game engine.    Enterbrain probably isn't a large enough company for them justify such a re-investment.

After all, at the very least, it will probably change the RGSS interpreter to V4 which will probably have API differences which must be incorporated into the porting engine.  Not including any Tileset changes, of which there were significant ones from XP to VX Ace (Autotiles).
  5. Probably later - I'm not an employee, but I would really doubt if Enterbrain has two full programming teams, so they can only work on one program at the same time.

That means they can't really start on a new RM until the converter program for mobile has been released and is stable (which means a few month after that release).

And any new RM that can be called more than a simple patch would (in my opinion) need a minimum of two years if you include conception and bughunting as well as releasing/producing it.
  6. If and when they do, I really hope they'll offer in some kind of trade-up or trade-in.

(For those who don't know what that means, paying MUCH LESS while giving up Ace)

So they are indeed making an export for Ace? The way I was reading it much earlier in the year was that they were having way too much difficulty with it, and then rumors started spreading that it was more than likely going to be a feature in the next maker. Of course, we keep hearing they're working on it, but that doesn't necessarily tell us for which maker it's being worked on.
  8. Someone made a slightly-premature announcement on facebook about it. There IS a product in the works. It is NOT ready for release and there is no ETA given.

I expect they will get that up and running first, and hopefully use any lessons learned to make the ability built-in to the next version of RPG Maker. But that's delving into suggestions/wishlist stuff, which isn't what this thread is about.

How often have they been released in the past - was it every 2, 3 or 4 years? How long has Ace (Japanese) been out now? They might follow that, or they might just do new versions when there are significant new operating systems released - wasn't RMXP timed for Windows XP, VX for Vista, Ace for 7 ... or is it just my imagination?

Yes, they've tested/testing it right now on ksjp and aldorlea's Undefeated...

Personally, I'd prefer if they just release patches for now instead of a new maker. I still have lots to do with Ace. XD
  10. Don't really know. But I hope it won't be released so soon...

Man... my battle system is about to release. It would be bad if there's a new RM engine xD
  11. yeah, unless it would still use RGSS3 or just upgrade it without removing things from the base of it.

True, I was just wondering if they were planning this to eventually be released to the public for Ace, or just using Ace as a testing ground with more games like "Undefeated", and then creating the public version for the next maker. But until they announce something more official, we'll just have to wait and see.
  13. Don't think they need to myself but they could release a RPG Maker XP Ace.

As "everyone" knows by know I am a huge RPG Maker 2 fan so I need an RPG Maker 2 Ace also!! but you know that whole Agetec thing sucks.

Windows 10 is coming. If Ace was for 7, 8 didn't got anything (not significant?), and now comes 10 (where is 9? we'll never know).

    As for releases...

    RM95: 1997

    RM2k: 2000

    R2k3: 2002

    RMXP: 2004 JPN / 2005 ENG

    RMVX: 2007 JPN / 2008 ENG

    RMVA: 2011 JPN / 2012 ENG

Normally it has taken between 3 and 4 years (RM2k3 being the difference, but we all know how broken RM2k3 was at its release, it was all rushed and poorly made).

Bu if they want to take some more years and release something with a lot of new features and improvements everywhere at the core, well, GREAT. The porting is a good example of a feature the program needs.
  15. Windows 8 is only Windows 7 with a new front end.

So, 3-4 years between releases? We'd be looking at 2015-2016 then, if they were to follow any kind of pattern.
  16. I too would be fully satisfied some patches.. Mainly for being able to simply run my maps on or near a full HD resolution.

Ideally one that allows the removal of the F1,2 and 12 keys also :p

No, Windows 8 is Windows 7 on drugs.

I have yet to find ONE who is not annoyed by that OS... :p
  18. I love it. There, you've found one ;) And I've seen other people say they don't understand all the Windows 8 hate. So that's more than one :)
  19. I'm not annoyed by the OS itself, but I'm annoyed by that metro UI... never a fan of that...
  20. Yeah - I click on it once to bring up my Chrome, then I stay on the desktop. After that, the rest almost looks identical to 7.
