Whats up, I just recently got RPG Maker VXC Ace through a steam sale and I think I've fallen in love with it. I've been watching tutorials for it and am making my first test game. Any general tips could be helpful but this thread is just to get to know the community. Let me get to it.
I've been a gamer for over 15 years. I cant remember what my first game was called now but i do remember it was some sort of racing game that ran in MS-DoS, my first computer was a Packard Bell. :D I like to read and (obviously) play games. I don't know what else to say here but I think this will do as an introduction.
Whats up guys, new to the forum.

Welcome to the forums!
If you really do plan on making a game in RPG Maker, then best give it your all cause these people don't play when it comes to feedback and criticism.
This is, in complete truth, from years of experience.
Good luck! :) -
Sweet, when i finish my first game I will definitely have to get some people from these forums to test it out and give me feedback then. I've only just really started making it though, I've been watching the tutorial town on youtube.Welcome to the forums!

Also word of advice, be wary of script conflicts and compatibility issues.

I'm learning the maker engine itself before i get into any scripts. I wouldn't even know where to start with scripts right now. Also it kinda looks like i goofed and put this topic in the wrong section. :dizzy:Also word of advice, be wary of script conflicts and compatibility issues.

Welcome to the forum.
Yeah, wrong section. all you need to do is to click 'Report' on your opening post and ask to have it moved to Introductions, and a mod will do it.
You say " when i finish my first game I will definitely have to get some people from these forums to test it out and give me feedback then". Why wait? there is, for example, a thread where you can post shots of your maps and so get feedback as you go along. That feedback will help improve your future maps and save a lot of time over waiting until it's all done.
There is often more than one way of doing things, and opening a general topic with your queries as you go along means that you get access to a wide variety of advice and suggestions.
I personally learned a lot just by reading everyone else's queries. I might not have needed the information at the time, but when I came to do something similar, I already had a foundation of information on which I could build.
As for scripts - I feel your pain! I have suffered! But if you stick to the default scripts at first and learn just how much you can do with those and the editor you will be much better placed to enter the battle with them. -
Good point, i might make use of that thread soon. I'm having trouble deciding how i want my story to start off.Welcome to the forum.

I hope your username is just a simple reference to The Matrix, and not the hate group.
Either way, welcome! -
Welcome! Definitely do the tutorials, and take a good look at the sample maps ---- to view a copy of one, right-click on a map and select "Load Sample Map" There are literally dozens of them. When you load one, it creates a new map and copies the sample into it, so you can see how it's assembled from the tiles.
Just pick the smallest, easiest piece of an idea you have and make a small test game with it, to get your feet wet. At first, don't use any scripts or any non-RTP resources. Start small and work your way up from there.
Best of luck! -
Or, you could do what I did, which was fumble through the program for 4 days, learn what you don't know, then go do the tutorials. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend it myself.Welcome! Welcome to the group! And yes, I hear you about having many ideas. It seems that as I work on my game I keep coming up with ideas for 2 - 3 more, then 2 - 3 more come out of that.... -
Thanks to everybody for all the welcomes!
It is a reference to The Matrix, and I was also completely unaware there was a hate group that went by the name red pill. I don't support or condone any hate groups in general.I hope your username is just a simple reference to The Matrix, and not the hate group.
Either way, welcome!
Edit: I went looking for this Red Pill group and I found that it was founded in early 2013. I've been going by Red Pill for the last 8 or 9 years. B)
Aside from that, thanks for the welcome! :D

Yea i did that before, just to see how they assemble. I think mapping is something i don't have too much trouble with right now, but i'll probably upload screenshots in a bit to get some feedback on what i have.
I test everything, any event I make I test right away to make sure I'm doing them right.
I've already looked at some tutorials for the program. Tutorial Town by redweaver on youtube starts out pretty well. He goes over everything in pretty exacting detail.Or, you could do what I did, which was fumble through the program for 4 days, learn what you don't know, then go do the tutorials. Also thanks :D and hahahah yea, exactly man, that is exactly what keeps happening. I need to keep snipping the ideas so I don't get overloaded with them.
