What was your first anime/manga, or how did you get into anime/manga?

The title says it all.

Of course, around the world there are tons of fans of both anime and manga, with some saying manga is better than anime, or anime is better than manga.

So, for fun, I decided to put this topic up.

What was your first anime/manga, or how did you get into it?

As for me, my first anime was (I know, call me a perv lol.) Sora no Otoshimono. Though filled with tons of ecchi in which I completely did not expect as I went into the anime literally not knowing anything about it, to me it was legendary and had an amazing story.

Those were my thoughts when I was younger, of course. I still consider it legendary as it was my first anime.

me I was young it was Sakura card captor and Inuyasha...I also listen a lot of pervy anime myself xD

but I still prefer cat related manga /anime because cat girl are so much! awesome : D! 

I won't count my chillhood anime as my first anime since it damn too many.

My first anime was Umineko no Naku Koro ni.

Yes, that psychological anime. I'm interested since my friend introduce me Ushiromiya Maria. See is adorable yet sometimes looks scary.

Can not resist of my curiousity, then I watch the series.

And it was my first anime

Mine was Dragonball. I was 2 years-old and my uncle was giving me my first hair cut. As you can imagine this was horrifying hearing this huge buzzing sound coming from out of nowhere. My uncle turned the TV on and Dragonball was coming on. For whatever reason it appealed to me. There wasn't really a term for anime back then, but it was just so damn different and exciting then some of the stuff that was created at the time just to sell toys. After that I watched a few staple cartoons, but I stuck mostly to anime. You wouldn't believe what a Godsend Toonami was back then.

My first anime I actually watched and got into was blood+; I was a bit prejudiced about anime for a while due to the usual misconceptions of thinking all anime are like kill la kill and the like so never got into them in childhood.

The underworld saga was always one of my favorite movies and my wife convinced me to watch blood+ by trying to argue that it was a similar concept but that blood+ executed it much better, naturally making me want to be able to rebut her. It took one episode and I was instantly blown away by the series.

Doraemon, I think. My family did buy some of the movies on VHS when I was a kid, especially Nobita's Great Adventure into the Underworld. That one was my favorite.

About manga, I say Dragonball. I read some part of the children arc and up until the end of Freeza fight. I had not seen the anime version of Dragonball until I was a teen.

I wanna say my first anime was Sailor Moon, but I might have seen Speed Racer, or something else a little first. I still think of Sailor Moon as my first though! It got me into anime, but I think Dragonball Z got me hooked for good.

Serial Experiments Lain was my first anime. I was young and naive, so a lot of the philosophical bits flew right over my head, but I couldn't get enough of it.

For manga, it was Dragon Ball. My dad picked up the first four volumes on a business trip and gave them to me as a gift. I was hooked.

The first manga I read was Manga Love Story XD My brother had these and I read them in secret. I didn't know what anime or manga was at that time. Then I found a manga magazine with lots of shoujo stuff and that ultimately started my interest.
 

I don't really remember what the first anime I watched was (since there were a bunch in TV at that time, like Pokemon, Digimon, Card Captor Sakura, Earth Girl Arjuna etc.) but the first time I actually realized it was "anime" and not some cartoon stuff was, when I started to watch Naruto. After that I was introduced to the internet and found Fullmetal Alchemist, which was my first anime I watched online. I really liked it, but it isn't the best anime I've seen so far (especially not the first version), but I still have this weird feeling of nostalgia everytime I just hear the opening.

Robotech. If you count that. I generally do, because even though it was heavily edited, it still featured most of the hallmarks of Japanese animation as opposed to Western.

My absolute first was Lupin the Third!

It's too awesome and still one of my favourite anime/mangas ever, I grew up with the characters and I loved the show.
I had a crush for Fujiko back then and Inspector Zenigata was hilarious as hell, he was the best character ever in the series.
 

Captain Tsubasa, Sailor Moon, The Slayers and Dragon Ball came immediately afterwards.

I really don't know. Voltron or Thundercats or something. It's not like I knew the difference back then, they were just cartoons to me. The one that got me into watching anime as a teen was Magic Knight Rayearth.

Serial Experiments Lain was actually really interesting, but it turned some watchers off because it was confusing as heck apparently. It made perfect sense to me when I watched it. Just with the advanced technology and The Wired... it was pretty great.

Apparently everyone wants that anime to die already lol. (Because's there's just too much episodes....?)

See, I don't know if I would count Voltron, because it was butchered far beyond what Robotech was, with very little of the original story intact. And Thundercats was actually American.

Magic Knight Rayearth was obviously anime though.

Also, to add, since Robotech was something I was super into as a kid, but really only a sort of a thing I knew about before anime was really a thing, the series that probably got me "back" into looking into anime was Gundam Wing.

Well, if that doesn't count, the Adventures of Unico definitely does.

I'm not too sure, so I'll just say Dragonball Z was my first anime, but I only went deeper into the stuff once I saw Fullmetal Alchemist. The creator, Hiromu Arakawa is also the inspiration for the online name I've used for so many years.

Akazukin Chacha (Red Riding Hood Chacha) was my first anime, which came on tv when I was about 5 years old or so. The transformation of the little girl into a teenage magical girl pulled me in deep, thus began my descend into such vast world. I tried watching it again at my current age, I was probably too ignorant as a child to notice the transformation scenes very irritatingly being reused for over a span of hundreds of episodes.  As for manga, Shin-chan was the first. I still have those old mangas though (they're in terrible condition since we were kids and we sucked at taking care of our own things).
