What the RTP is missing! MV Edition

It's super cool that you're linking to the Japanese authors as well. More people should use their stuff and it makes the community better when we all get together. The English and Japanese RPG maker fans can share a lot with each other and the language barrier doesn't have to be a problem.

What the RTP is missing: overweight people who are friendly and normal! I recently made this edit from the Sci-fi RTP, free to use. A version of the chubby kid that doesn't look like a playground bully =p

@gchan RTP refers to the default/standard resources that come with the program. It's very likely you're already using it in your projects.
The resources in this list basically add to the RTP (default resources).

@slimmmeiske2 Thanks for the explanation, I thought need additional install.

I would also note that RTP is kind of a generic computer term. As it's used in the forums, it means the engine's default resources, but it may have other meanings outside the forums.

Anything in this thread or forums which is based on the RTP is free to use with the MV engine. Everything requires credit to Kadokawa. Some of the edits also require you to credit a forum user. (Each link should list terms and conditions).

Question though. I noticed that you linked to the Japanese site tkool.jp which I think is Kadokawa's main site? Well regardless, there are some additional material released there, most interestingly this pack which looks like a celebration release for reaching 1.000.000 sales for the engine(?). It contains lots of sprites for many of the SF-RTP battler. Really, really nice stuff.

Now, I'll assume it's released by Kadokawa and that it's free to use (even for commercial games), as long as you own and use it in MV of course. But that's only an assumption based on the belief that the site and the resources in question belongs to, and have been release by Kadokawa respectively. As well as my (not perfect) translation of this statement on that download page:


However, I can't go on an assumption alone when fact is that I can't read at a native level - which means I can't be sure. Also, as far as I do understand what's written, it doesn't seem to specifically say anything about what additional credits (if any?) that would be required. When it comes to legal stuff, the devil is always in the details, and I'm also unsure about the details of distribution mentioned. Is it fine to use and distribute (and sell as part of a game)? It doesn't seem to say anything about encryption though so is that maybe not needed? So many questions.

I want to be really, really sure since I might be tempted at using some of those sprites for a game that I might end up selling. Which would mean re-distributing them as part of a commercial product.

Wow, RTP additions for free to download on the Japanese page? Why aren't these made into packs and released on here?

Anyhow, this thread is great. Gonna have to do some resource digging around to look for stuffs to use.

Woah! Thank you so much for putting this together! This was the missing link to a few RTP elements I've been looking forward to using (but missing a face here or a SV battler there)! Thanks for all your hard work and your constant collaborative endeavors!

This is absolutely awesome too. I can't seem to operate the Kadokawa website correctly, though. I really want the sprites for some of those SF battlers but the download links aren't, for me anyway.
