Hello!
What are, if there are, the difference of the stand-alone vs. the steam version of MV?
I'll be honest... I currently just have a cracked 1.5.1 stand-alone version... since I just wanted to try when I got to knew this program and has not made a proper game ever since...
Basically, I want to know if the steam MV can be used without internet connection? cause I want to save on data as much as possible.
Also because finally I caught MV on 65% sale in steam so I am planning to purchase it and feel no more remorse using :D
What is the difference of stand-alone MV versus steam MV

I'm not sure how wise it is to publicly write this on the official forums...Currently I just have a cracked 1.5.1 stand-alone version... since I just wanted to try when I got to knew this program and has not made a proper game ever since...
When you buy the key from the RPGMaker Web store, you receive a Steam key as well. You can use it without an internet connection, provided you can log in on Steam. -

oof do I get a ban of some sort? hope not...
For reprimands/warnings I am aware of the possibility of that happening after posting this though, since I am being honest in my intentions that I just wanted to try the program out cause I am very interested in making my own game which I still have not since getting "that" copy.
And now that I see it being on sale I am planning to buy ahead and use that in future so I can get rid of the cracked copy.

How about purchasing on steam first? Do I have access to the program outside of steam? -
As far as I know, if you buy the Steam version you only get that, and not the stand-alone version :)

If you have RPG Maker open and disconnect from the internet it is still able to be used. I take my laptop to work, which is in a cave and has no wifi, and I have no issue working on my game, provided that I opened MV before I lost wifi.
Also they have demo versions to try out the game, so maybe try not to be a pirate. -
Honestly it's best to just buy it from the store. You get a DRM and steam key from here so if you want you can buy the resource packs from steam, more money for the site and you get two copies for the price of one.
Also: FYI there's an trail version that you could have used instead. -

Yes, yes you do get a ban. It's in our forum rules as an instant ban offense, as these are the Degica official forums.
If you had wanted to just try it out, you could have used the free trial.
Since you have stated intentions of buying, I will give you 72 hours to provide proof of purchase.
I'm locking this thread. You can pm me or another mod when you can provide proof of purchase.
