Hey everyone,
In life we all have stuff we want to do (though we do rarely find the time to do the things which we enjoy the most!). However we all have something which we have always wanted to do, a lifetime goal for instance.
So here's my question - What do you want to do, before, you die?
Remember this has to be the number one thing you want to do before you die, for instance find a cure for Cancer...
For me what I want to do before I die is make a difference! So raise lots of money for Alzheimer's or Cancer charities, though I'd also Love to make a really great game before I die :)
What do you want to do?

There is an excellent movie called "The Bucket List" which talks about this very concept. But, the difference is the movie refers to a list of things you want to do before dying (i.e. "kicking the bucket"). I think it's better for people to answer the question as "What things do you want to do before you die?"
I'm not sure what exactly is on my bucket list, since I'm still changing and growing as a person so I can't really say what'll be on it now is what will be on it even a year from now. -
I want to create my own mangá.
-
@whitesphere:
That's OK. Shouldn't make your mind up straight away, you've probably got lots of time left to decide :)
@Izarck Jitter:
Manga huh? Good luck with that, I hope you manage it in the end :D -
Publish a novel/series of novels/books.
Become famous for something good.
Become rich via some method other than the usual career ladder.
Sail on an authentic (pirate) boat, even if only for a short time. I love boats, and I don't know why @_@
Learn Graphic and Web design fully.
Have a modern, spacious apartment with a variety of (maybe commissioned) art on the wall from non-famous, but good, artists.
Purchase Harry Potter memorabilia, maybe have it fill a room in the said apartment.
Have an art book collection.
Top a trading card game tournament at or above Regional level.
Win a renowned photography contest.
... Very varied :p -
Probably the biggest thing I would like to do is travel to see much of the world. I've never been outside of the U.S. (though I've seen much of it) and there are many places I would love to visit.
-
I just want to become a music teacher and geek out with small children about music for the rest of my life.
-
I eventually want a business degree, with a minor in international business, and I want to open up my own clothing store featuring my designs in Ireland (or even Korea) solely for fashionable babies.
-
I want to buy a brand new car, straight out, with cash. All in 1 dollar bills, fresh from the bank, in a metal briefcase attached to a friends arm by a chain, while we are both wearing black suits and sunglasses.
This has seriously been a goal of mine for at least 15 years. -
@Hotfirelegend:
That's a really good list of things you want to do. As I am a massive fan of Harry Potter I especially love your memorabilia one :D ...
@mlogan:
I'd like to travel too one day. I would simply love to travel around the world, all the amazing things out there to see - it is almost endless :) !
@Ms Littlefish:
Good luck with becoming a music teacher :D I know you can do it! What sort of music do you like?
@Ruby:
A clothing shop for babies! That's a great idea, good luck with that ;)
@Touchfuzzy:
A brand new car. What car would you buy, a newer one or a classic one? Personally speaking I prefer classic cars, for example, I love my dads Vauxhall Senator!!! Hope you get your new car :) -
Publish my own manga (I have a lot of ideas but barely putting my skills to work) or work as a character designer (I love designing crazy clothes on characters)
Visit Japan (mainly Ikebukuro and Akiharabara....for obvious reasons....)
Study in my dream university (because of the type of course they offer, but it's really expensive)
Move to and work in Singapore (it's much closer to my home country and easier to go back and forth)
Master Japanese to native level (N2 level, my teacher said N1 is more on a scholar level)
Shower my parents with gifts (handmade and bought) and such for raising me. -
I don't know, perhaps I want to find the real purpose of my life, because I'm not really sure with what I'm living on, do a people simply born, grow, learn, work, married, have family, then died ? Let's say I want to be a great musician and composer, even if I have achieve it, then what? Another example is, I do want to become a great programmer, but again if I have achieved it, then what? Right now I just want to finish my game project(the project that I don't know for sure when it will be finished), but once again after I finished it, then what??? I live in confusion actually, Do people simply born, live, then died? Maybe the best thing to do is helping other people, like what you want in your life, raise lots of money and help those who need help, because anything else aside that it's just a mortal wish that I believe will never satisfied me because I'm a kind of person that have really big ambitions in my life, so I take my chance that my goal is like yours, I want to be a useful person for the others, but yeah I believe this is not easy, let us do our best.

I have a sort of Bucket List actually, here it is:
Spoiler- Finding my real love.Done.
- Meeting her.
-Finding a good and stable job that will make me independent.Done.
- Offering a drink to everyone in a bar.Done.
- Making a good game (or more than 1) with RM.
- Traveling. I don't want to see the whole world but I've never been outside Italy in my whole life.
- Driving a very expensive car.
- Seeing a total eclipse.
- Learning more than 2 languages.
- Taking a drive on a roller coaster.
- Doing skydiving at least once. -
@Gradian:
I like the list of things you want to do. All of them are extremely awesome and I especially like how you want to shower your parents with gifts :)
I wish I had enough money to spend on my mum and dad, but sadly I do not. Come November though I am treating my mum to a meal because she's been very down lately because of her mum (my gran) who is currently battling Alzheimer's and terminal Cancer :|
Here's to hoping that you achieve all you want to :)
@BoluBolu:
I like the way you think mate, it almost reminds me of me :) I like helping others, that's why I did my Alzheimer's walk back in September. I often think like that, wondering what is the point of life but do you know what I say Bolu?
LIVE LIFE NOW!
You can't live life wondering those things, its to short! You need to live life in the now, enjoy yourself, do what you need to do and simply live out your life. It's to short to be worrying about why we're here or what's the point of life. You never know what's around the corner, Live Life, don't take it for granted...
Good luck my friend :D
@Dalph:
Great list Dalph :D
I have a list of everything I want to do as well - It's very long though ;)
Good luck in completing everything on your list mate.
Kindest regards,
Miffy. -
Hmm, bucket list.
- Have a family of my own.
- Own a house.
Live in a place with secret passages.There are two in this house. I made one myself. :D- Learn Japanese, hopefully to native level, realistically just well enough to watch anime without subtitles. (I've been working on this for so long but it's just not sticking!)
- Publish at least one of my novels. This one is probably more like "within 10 years" because if I don't get a few of these novels completed soon my friends are going to do terrible things to me. Possibly involving kidnapping and tying me to a keyboard.
- Make a game where all the art is made by me.
-
@Sharm
Maybe you could try Nanowrimo as a time to finish a novel? I know I get things done better when there's a specific deadline. -
@Sharm:
Hey Sharm I absolutely love your list of things you want to do :D Though I must tell you that I am very sorry that you may never be able to travel to all the places you want to. In a way we're kind of similar, because I can't travel either :(
So you built a secret passage in your own house? That so cool :) I wish my house had a secret passageway but it doesn't, unfortunately :|
I also like the idea of you writing a book, I've written tons and tons of books but sadly I always delete them.
Best of luck for all of your goals for life Sharm.
Kindest regards,
Miffy. -
Hmm, what do I want to do before I die? Interesting topic but luckily I do know what I want to do before I die, here's my list of things to do:
1. Buy another Vauxhall Senator - miss mine so much!
2. Buy a really good Pc - That will cost me about 2 grand!
3. Own a Manor House, that one could be in the near future!
4. Create a really good game that everyone enjoys...
And that is all. :) -
@Death's Assistant:
Completely love your list of things you want to do. Especially the one about the Vauxhall Senator :D
Good luck on completing all your goals... :) -
@whitesphere: Oh, I have roughs, that's why my friends are ready to do horrible things to me. They've read them and are annoyed that I'm taking so long to get further.
@Miffy: No! Never delete while you're creating, even if you're 100% positive that it's all trash! Every creator goes through a phase where they think their stuff is worthless, it's really not uncommon for that stuff to be a creative person's best work. If you've got multiple days of work into something you are not allowed to delete until you are finished and have a second outside opinion. Probably not even then.
It's my parents house, I'm just building an apartment in the basement. That's why owning a house is on my list. The apartment's good though, it's just the right size for me, I have help nearby for the times when my health is being stupid, I get a place I can treat like I own it and the rent is cheep. I put a secret passage bookshelf in there, it goes to my laundry room.
