  1. So the other day a friend and I were discussing the gender of this actor. (Actor 2, 0). What do you think, male or female?

  2. He is a he, due to the strong chin and his sprite having the male preset. Yes there is a difference between male and female characters in Ace RTP, mainly their walking style.
  3. Definitely a male, despite being a bit effeminate in appearance.
  4. heavy/thick eyebrows as well.. usually says male to me ;) and yes.. I know this is not a good rule to follow
  5. The skin color is also tad bit more tanned than the female ones. They use brownish or more orange tone on males and more pinkish on females in RTP art.
  6. This one does look male to me, too. Mind you, I also have the RTP "Ernest" actor cast as a female knight.
  7. I thought female at first, but now that everyone has pointed out some key factors, I agree complete. Good job, Ksjp17, for pointing it out to me. =P
  8. You have not watched enough anime if it is not obvious.

Eyes and/or chin is usually enough to tell what gender the character is when it comes to anime art.
  9. Heh, I should be embarrassed to admit that I have watched a good bit then. =P

SAO, AoT, Black Butler, Soul Eater, etc for newer stuff.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, Vampire Princess Miyu, Ranma 1/2, Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, etc. for the old stuff.

I have that odd outlook though that sees similarities in people that others do not, and do not see them when others do. I should have asked my daughter though, she would have spotted it in an instance, she has an eye for that sort of thing!

Thanks for all of the votes and feedback, everyone! This is why I love our community.
  10. I will say, though, that anime is rife with cases of mistaken gender-identity, especially the shojo genres, and many of the RTP characters have a definite androgyny which could lead an actor to be cast as either a masculine woman or feminine man.
  11. A lot of portraits and faces available here tend to follow the japanese anime style, captainproton. I guess people here have gotten used to seeing and identifying male and female faces in animes.

Anyway, the japanese have a tendency to intentionally create characters with androgynous names & androgynous anatomy for storyline purposes or for fun. They tend not to care much about gender distinction, though.
  12. Agreed!
  13. I would say this one is female. Reminds me of Ranma 1/2.
  14. Ooh, I think I will have to watch some of those. Thanks!!
  15. Well, I did choose the most feminine image of that character, so it will be natural for most people mistaken his gender if they did not already know the character. ^^
