Please consider other music in a different language under just one genre so jpop and kpop would go into pop.

No world/ethnic music? >_>

I listen to a little bit of everything. Classic rock such as Kansas and Boston. A good bit of punk/alternative like breaking Benjamin, Mix some synth metal in there every once in a while and some folk music (for the fiddle) and a little classical for when I'm feeling somber.
Pretty much the only type of music I don't like at all is pop and rap, pop because it tends to be lazy instrumentally and both because I despise the egotistical themes common to both generes (along with the fact that the majority of artists conform to these themes.) even then I can find on occasion a song or two I like, but it's rare with those. -
Mostly 3 genres of music that I enjoy listening to the most (none of which seem to be on the list):
- Metal, particularly symphonic and power metal (e.g. Gamma Ray, Dreamtale, Hammerfall), or any other that is very melodic (e.g. Iron Maiden), as well as folk metal (e.g. Ensiferum). I don't like anything that's just random guitar riffs with no tune.
- Trailer/production music. As the name says it, basically the epic music that is often used in trailers. Good examples: Two Steps from Hell, Audiomachine, Brand X Music.
- Movie and Game Soundtracks. Self-explanatory. If I had to pick favourite game soundtracks, it would be Final Fantasy series, Castlevania series, Deus Ex, Trine, and Dark Souls. -
Honestly, I like a bit of everything.
I listen to and personally play a lot of classical music and folk music. I probably listen to these genres the most. I play Irish fiddle and Bluegrass/Mandolin but I listen to many other folk musics. I've even played in Taiko and Djembe ensembles. I can't say I've met a folk music or an era of classical music I've disliked.
I listen to a lot of rock and its many genres and incarnations over the decades. Metal, folk metal, symphonic metal. I listen to some rap. The Flobots are a pretty awesome band. I like punk. I like whatever the heck Modest Mouse is. I like trance, electronic, ambient. Don't get me started on Jazz. I like that too.
I prefer some things over others but I think nearly every genre of music has qualities that are complex, intriguing, and fascinating. -
Horrorcore progressive metal jazz funk or something like that.

Also, is there a way to enable a one time re-vote? -
I like any style of rock (though pop-rock would be my least favorite in the rock genre), old or new and including metal in that (it's really a rock sub-genre anyway).
My favorite sub-genres are Symphonic and Power Metal (Kamelot, Sonata Artica) and Celtic Punk (Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys). Pretty much the more instrumentation the more I like it.
I enjoy pretty much any other type of music with the exception of Hip-Hop and Country (bluegrass is ok, don't like country) just not all the time. -
To be honest, I haven't heard a genre I haven't liked. There's even a few country and a few rap songs that are pretty kicker. :D

There are a few exceptions for me too when it comes to the genres I don't like, but when I dislike 95% of the music in a genre...I think I can safely say I dislike that genre. To be honest, I haven't heard a genre I haven't liked. Country music was the first music I was introduced to, I liked it for a while, but it wore on me. I still like Garth Brooks and a few other songs from a few other bands/singers. In general there isn't enough music (meaning played with instruments) in country music for my taste (and the same goes for most hip-hop). I don't like it when the music is just to support the singer, it should be able to stand on its own, to me.
There really is nothing more opinionated than musical choice though. -
I like a lot of types of music, but I like country best of all. I have a filtering problem with sounds so country music singers are usually a lot easier for me to hear the words to =P Rock or classic rock would be my second best followed by most all other types of music.. I grew up in Baton Rogue (which is about an hour north of New Orleans) so I tolerate Jazz/Blues music.. but I never seek it out.

Classical can be nice to listen to when you're feeling posh or somewhat. I really like celtic music, mainly ones filled with heavy/active violin/fiddle playing.
I've been way into Shibuya-kei (shibuya-pop) for its really catchy mix as of recent. -
Mixture of traditional japanese/chinese instruments combined with "modern" musical practices I guess. Not sure what that would be called. Wafu (和風)?
Examples: -
Epic (game music) Orchestra. Like Bravely default.
Celtic also awesome.
Techno, dubstep also welcomed. Fortissimo EXS (Visual Novel) soundtrack is the example.
Also, Anime OP/ED. They may be in various genre though. -
Can you provide a link to this genre? Something like your current favorite song.Mixture of traditional japanese/chinese instruments combined with "modern" musical practices I guess. Not sure what that would be called. Wafu (和風)?
I just realized i never actually posted about my favorite genre, haha, but it's electrical music like dubstep and house. -
I second that, sounds cool. Can you provide a link to this genre? Something like your current favorite song.

I don't have headphones on and I'm in a public place, so I can't really listen.
