    #23

    Introduction
Weekly Art Challenge is a recurring event for the Art, Literature and Music forum wherein there is a new challenge for artists every week. The goal of the event is to encourage art and going outside the box by imposing interesting challenges and limitations. After a week, a poll will be up for everyone to vote to select the best entry. The winner with the most votes will receive a pretty little badge for bragging rights.

Also, please be sure to check out the previous challenge's thread.

     Rules

    • A new challenge/theme will be posted up in a new thread every week.
    • Participants are to follow the rules imposed by the challenge/theme. Any questions may be asked. However, I reserve the right to disqualify any entries that I feel do not meet the criterion.
    • A challenge lasts for approximately a week. Deadline for all Weekly Challenges is strictly at 12:00AM, GMT +0, on Monday.
    • Multiple entries are allowed, and each will be voted separately. The final score will be the total amount of votes all of the entries get.
    • On the week after, a poll will be up in the same thread. Only one participant will win. In the case where there are more than one participant with equal votes, all winners will be rewarded.
    • Poll for voting will be available from the submission deadline to Saturday, when the winner will be announced.
    • The winner gets to call the theme/challenge for the following week. If the winner does not wish to do so, then I will come up with one.
    • All forms of art are welcome.
    • No need to register. Just start working on your entry right away if you've decided to participate.
    • Post your entries in this thread. WIPs are encouraged, but please explicitly specify your final submission.
    • There is absolutely no measurements coming from us on the completion of a piece. Whether a piece is complete for final submission or not, is entirely your own call. So don't be discouraged if you think you can only afford to doodle a couple lines. Anything is fine.
    • Entries must be done completely from scratch by their respective participants. This means no pre-existing stock materials are allowed, regardless of the degree to which they have been altered. Whoever is caught intentionally violating this rule will be subject to the punishment stated in our Forum Rules regarding Credit Theft.
    • Entries must be done within the week after the challenge has been issued. No previously done work is allowed. Entries violating this rule may be automatically disqualified without prior notice.

  2. Difficult challenge.
  3. Hmmm, just imagine submitting an empty canvas :p But hmm, this can be tricky, concept wise...
  4. Feel free to interpret it in any way you like though :p nowhere doesn't really imply nothingness!
  5. Please forgive the bad quality, first time I drew in years.   .

    Final Entry
  6. I don't think I'll have time to do more than a sketch.

  7. I like your picture Kingdanner.
  8. @Julien Brightside -Thank you very much, means alot :thumbsup-left:   ;_; :thumbsup-right:   . I'm very rusty. When I was younger I would draw everyday, used to design my own video game characters in hopes of one day making my own game. But lost hope believing it would ever happen, so stopped drawing, and haven't done so in what must be over 10 years.  :headshake:
  9. Have to change my entry into pixel art, still a WIP and planning to put a guy there.

Note- I'll delete my previous entry when this one got finished.

@KingDanner: Don't lose your hopes! If you keep drawing, you will level up! So believe in your own and complete your goal. Good luck, KingDanner.
  10. FINAL ENTRY

The sword guy is holding in his left hand, and clouds can't seen properly. And his right arm is a "sword."
  11. Hmm I have a nice drawing tablet yet I haven't drawn in years...

    I think it's time I change that.

    Wish me luck  ;)

don't mind me, just fighting nobody, in the middle of nowhere.
  13. Question about entry deadline: states "Monday July 2" (which I think is a typo) with voting on Sunday July 6, with entries still coming in.

Should that be Monday July 7 / Sunday July 13 ... or something else?

Very interesting topic! Putting my thinking cap on :)
Awesome, I have a little more time to think of something -- it is a challenging topic.
  14. Nyan Cat came through nowhere and scared this poor lost guy!

  15. https://soundcloud.com/maireadgamemusic/three-trees-city-of-tarel-dear-lady

I went for ghost town. But not just any ghost town. A literal ghost town. I have crafted this song with the intention to use is as the theme of one of my towns. But it really is a dead and nothing happening situation there.

In the heart of the country is it's capitol, Tarel. Deserted and barricaded from the rest of the continent. The city is populated by the spirits and animated corpses of the former townswmen. A literal ghost town. The survivors are seem gaunt and tending to the ghoulish figures their loved ones have become. They refuse aid, as they are ever faithful their leaders will return and restore them from the outpourings of Otherworld. But she left so long ago.

If you follow the melody of the voice, there are these lyrics to the hymn.

    "Once long ago,
    The sun turned pale.
    Past the morning bell,
    It flew away—
    Westward bound
    On the tree tops,
    blue,
    No bird, sang—
    Today.
No lark song, no flower did rise.
    To the gold moon song,
    The dear lady left."
  16. Out of all the irrational fears in the world, I think the fear of floating through space with nothing around is probably one of the scariest to me. Just floating, unable to control where you are going, knowing that there is literally nothing around you for light years. Truly the middle of nowhere.

Ooh, lost in the middle of the desert. I like the detail with the sweatdrops. Maybe he got sent there by a wizard.

    Justin Zalett:
Nicely done pixel art I say. I like the details.

    theadellie:
    I like how you color.

    Monkeysnow55:
    Nyan cat made me smile.

    Ms Littlefish:
    That is a lovely themesong.

    Jesse - PVGames:
Really like the lighting and shading here.

    Here's my contribution.

Also a fellow lost in space. This guy is trying to hitchhike.

  18. The entry I'm working on for this profound and complex topic is a video.

Since the video works better with sound, I was wondering if it is okay to use original music composed by someone else (credited of course) to accompany the piece.

Does the submission have to be entirely by one person, or can it be collaborative? or have multiple original components by others?

(Note: although I love music I am neither a composer nor a musician. I've tried to be both and the results ended up with my being cited for violating noise pollution standards! :) )
  19. @Julien Brightside: Thanks alot, I didn't know the deadline had been changed, so might have time today to color it.

    @Ms Littlefish: Love the music

And love everyone's ideas so far! Look forward to seeing more.
  20. Feedback to everyone.

@KingDanner: Nice line works, I like the sun raise and the igloo.

@animesock52: I like that adorable boy there, gorgeous work.

@theadellie: Nicely colored, but I thought that requires some work with line.

@Monkeysnow55: As I thought, tree needs to improve much, marvelous work with Nyan Cat.

@Ms Littlefish: Sublime work, but I cannot connect the music with lyrics.

@Jesse - PVGames: Flawless 3D model, sorry. Not much to say.

@Julien Brightside: Stunning job, but is Astronaut sitting on .. A .. . asteroid? For seconds, I thought their clouds.
