Walking over unpassable tiles?

  1. I dont know if this is a script interfering with tiles or what exactly is happening, I'm using Fantasy DLC. And all my characters are using 8 direction/diagonal My tiles are set to non-passable and they stay like that but for some reason on some tiles if im walking diagonal it will just let my character walk right through it, and then it seems like as soon as it allows it, then all the tiles start to allow the character to move through them.

here is a dummy map I made to show the issue-

[edit] Upon further testing, I removed the diagonal script and it still allows the character to move onto them.

  2. The tree and plant graphics you have in the map, what are the passability settings? If they are not set to above character (or star) they will act like a bridge and allow the character to cross over unpassable tiles. Thats the only thing i can think of.
  3. I thought that was the issue to but no, Ive checked and all of them are set to "X"

[Edit] ok so I solved the issue with walking on the houses, the tiles like the log and the rock etc- took up 2 tiles and I didnt catch that so I put "X" on top of them- and its ok however this "Mountain" is both set to "X" and some of it works which doesnt allow passage but I keep finding spots that will let the actor walk through them, which in return lets the actor start walking through all impassable tiles.

Huh...so all of your tree tiles are set to "non-passable"...weird. Ok, well, try this for me, set them to "over character", or "star". See if that helps.

Well the tree itself will not let me walk on/pass it until I find a little opening in the "Mountain/cliff" thats what is confusing me. Then once I find a mountain tile that lets me walk through it, it will let me pass on any tiles surrounding the mountain
  6. ...hmm...i dont know. Id have to see the dummy project, but im not sure if you can upload it to this thread. If you want to, you can try and id dont mind having a look see. Anyway, if not i hope someone else here will be better able to help you than i have.
  7. if i knew how to upload the dummy version I would try but never attempted such a thing before lol

You can upload it on sites like https://www.mediafire.com/, Sir. To 'produce' a game in RPM head to 'File > Compress Game Data'. Don't forget to mark '[X] Create Encrypted Archive'. RPM made a .exe of it (Edit: You keep the game as it is right now, it doesn't convert it or something like that. You can continue editing you game after you compressed the game.) now you can upload it on mediafire (link above) or any other file hoster. The upload can take 5 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of your game.

While it uploads try to create a event on the titles your character can move to unpassable areas. Leave them blank and just make sure it's set to [same as Character]. That should prevent the character of walking on unpassable titles. Copy the created event with SHIFT + C and paste it with SHIFT + V on every title that makes it able to exceed to unpassable titles.

    Best regards

  9. The passability of the very first B tile must be set to star.  That should fix the problem.
  10. Sharm it is set to star, Im uploading the demo of one map, and your understand lol :p Hopefully
  11. You don't have an event that's turned THROUGH ON for the player, do you?
  12. I do not Shaz, I only have scrips  and tiles, This is a fresh project otherwise.

As you can tell some tiles do not let you pass, while some do its actually quite weird
  13. When you drew your map, did you ONLY use the tiles that contained part of the trees on them, or did you grab a big square/rectangle, which included blank tiles in the corners? And are these blank tiles in the corners set to O for passability?

    (still downloading)

Edit - can't download. Chrome said it was malicious and blocked it.

Can you just zip up the project with that one map instead of compressing/encrypting? Ideally I'd like to see it in the editor and play with a few things to figure it out.
  14. Wow Shaz, I did indeed take a look around the boxes of the tree, they were set to "O" and I switched them to "X".. I guess that was my big issue. Something I never took into consideration. Sorry for making you download a File. But I truly do appreciate everyones help :)
  15. Nope, don't switch them to X either. That means for the trees that are around the edge of the "forest" you won't be able to walk on the flat ground.

You've drawn with an unused tile, and even though there's no sprite, it's still taken the passage settings. To REMOVE unwanted tiles, you need to use the top-left B tile and draw over the unwanted tiles with it.

How do you find them if they have no sprite? Just edit the tileset image in Paint.NET or something and put a big, red X in the tiles that make up the rest of the "rectangle" around the trees (the ones you've drawn with that have no sprite). Then go back to your map with the new tile, and anything that has a big red X in your map needs to be drawn over with the top left tile.
