I installed the 30-day trial version of RPGmaker VX Ace, then a week later, I bought the Steam version on sale. When I click on the remaining icon to start up the trial, it displays the trial splash screen, but the Steam version doesn't, of course. However, since I can only find one copy of VX Ace on my PC, will there be a problem with the Steam version when the trial runs out? I ask this because installation of the Steam version deleted all of the projects I'd been working on in the trial, so one copy does seem to affect the other. Has anyone gone through this?

no steam and trial edition are not linked each other so you can work without problem if you activated your steam version~

The Steam version didn't delete anything, it just doesn't know where to look to find those files. They're exactly in the same place they were before. The reason it seemed to take over is because when installing the Steam version the file associations got changed. You don't need to worry about your trial version affecting the Steam version, it's a completely different exe and it's not going to change your file associations when it runs out.

Thank you for the info... I was really worried there for a while. I do wish, though, Steam wouldn't have deleted the project I was working on. (I gotta remember to make back-ups from now on.) :| -
Steam CANNOT delete projects - whatever happened to your project, either it isn't deleted or it was deleted by something other than Steam.I do wish, though, Steam wouldn't have deleted the project I was working on.

Go to wherever the lite version was saving your game projects to (don't recall the default but maybe someone can say), it should still be there.

After some thought I have to agree that Steam cannot delete projects... I thought perhaps RPGmaker did that when it was installed over top of the trial version.Steam CANNOT delete projects - whatever happened to your project, either it isn't deleted or it was deleted by something other than Steam.

As for the color texts, you can be assured I will Never Ever use color text in a post again. I was not aware color was reserved for moderators (is that rule mentioned somewhere(I did not read the regulations regarding posts)). Why is color made available to members, then? I need a bit of understanding here. -
Site rules (accessed via link in lower right corner of every single forum page)
11. Do NOT use blue or red text in your posts. Blue and red text is used by moderating staff for mod actions to make sure people take notice of what they are saying. Exceptions are made for formatting in opening posts of Project Threads, Tutorial threads, Completed Script threads, and Resource threads if you need something to be very obvious like disclaimers or important instructions. (Since its an opening post, it shouldn't interfere with mod voice.)
You can use colours - just don't use them excessively, and try to avoid the colours and formats that are used for moderator actions.
No, Steam and RPG Maker will not delete your projects. The engines go into one folder, the projects into another. It's just likely that the trial/full and Steam versions use different folders by default for your projects. You can always change where they are stored, and you can always tell it to open a project even if it's not in the default location. -
Thanks, Shaz, for clairfying the "red & blue color" text in the forums. I apologize for having used them earlier, and also for not having read the Forum Rules completely (if I had, I would not have used the colors).
Also, thanks for your help on my situation with the "deleted" project I experienced. Guess I'll never know what happened to it. It was there just prior to obtaining numerous software titles from HumbleBundle.com & Steam and then later it was gone. However, and upside to the whole matter is that I restarted the same project and now this time I'm doing much better than before! Seems that repeating a project has its benefits. :) Thanks again. -
It will still be there. Go to Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) and search your whole hard drive for files called Game.rvproj2 - the project you started will be there somewhere.

I tried that and came up with four files of Game.rvproj2. But when I opened each of them, all were the same: a default state of empty (or "new", I'm not sure which would be a correct description). None of the data or changes I had made were there. I am totally lost at what happened. I am not inexperienced at computers, but this one's got me stumped. However, I've already started recreating the same project over again, so I guess it no longer matters. But a big Thanks to you for your suggestion!
