    Hey there!

    We were talking about Voice Acting in the chat yesterday [or the day before, can't remember]. So, I figured that I'd take initiative to open a thread. I'm opening it in 'General Lounge' because this is more a showcase/discussion of Voice Acting. And since voice acting isn't restricted to games, I think that this forum allows the most freedom.

    I'd like to hear some Voice Acting from some people on the forums, so post your stuff! Whether it's just examples [like mine below] or actual paid/volunteered work that you've done for something [if you're allowed], post it here! Also, discuss anything at all related to VA.

    edit2: This thread is also for criticism! Please critique me [and anyone else who posts] on cadence, tone, etc.

    So, since I've started this thread... I feel obligated to post my voice. It's not acting... I'm just reading random quotes from 'Siddartha'. I've never done any sort of voice acting before, so it was an odd experience.

    This does sound pretty good. Did you use anything special to record it or change the voice at all?

    I haven't got anything to share yet so I'm just going to list some of my favorite voice actors.

    Quinton Flynn. best known for Axel from Kingdom Hearts and Reno from Final Fantasy but has done many more characters from both video games and anime.

    Alessandro Juliani: L from Death Note. Has won an award (I think) for this part. If you've seen Death Note then you know what an amazing job he does.

    I've got more but I can't think of any and these are my favorite 2 anyway. :p

    Thanks! No... I just recorded on my iPhone, emailed to myself and uploaded straight to SoundCloud.

    Here's a one I just did. Decided to try two voices in one... tried to do a Scottish kid:

    :wub: Thanks! I went to private school until grade 8, and they were really big on proper diction... so that probably helped.

    Looking forward to playing a game with your voice acting in it.
    I may do minimal voice acting in my game... just for 'big' scenes.

    I actually do quite a bit of voice acting. Basically, when I'm not RM'ing or making music, I'm voice acting.

    Here's my most recent voice demo:

    A fandub of a very short scene from the Guilty Crown anime with me voicing Shu

    A short student film for which I did the narration for

    And lastly a disclaimer.




    I'm going to be having full voice acting in my game project (battle + scenes), which casting has already been completed for. Should be good ;D

    Really impressed with this!

    I'd love to try a hand at Voice Acting too!

    But I don't know if a laptop mic would quite have the quality I'd be needing ^^;

    Go for it!! You can [if you own one, of course] use a cell phone.Many models [around 2008 and forward] have surprisingly good quality. The mic on my phone is easily 10x better than my laptop mic.

    Levi, it sounds like your voice shakes in that first recording you did. Kind of hard not to notice, at least for me.

    Yeah. Like at the end of "world" and "explain"? It's slightly exaggerated since I was talking rather quietly [bad acoustics in my house], so I didn't have full force behind my voice. But I can notice it in my "full" speaking voice from time to time as well, just not quite as pronounced. I only really notice it in the first few words, by the end it disappears.

    I'm quite shy, but I gave two introductions I absolutely love a try. I don't think i'm very good, but here's my attempt to help indulge you in this topic, feel free to pick it apart and give it critique. I felt bad giving you critique while looking like a douchebag who can't produce anything himself, so have at me.

    EDIT: I just realized, after listening again, even if I could get a gig, I doubt I could do much freeform work. I feel if anything, i'd be kinda limited to Narration. I used to read to children at a library for a few summers back in highschool, and that worked out, so I think I might be okay at that kind of work.

    Good job on the War Never Changes speech. Could use a bit more "Acting", but overall not too bad.

    Not really. I would post voice acting, but my voice has been acting up since I've been sick.

    Gyohohoho!

    Anyway, I've been meaning to put together some stuff a little more suitable and a little more well-organized than just me in my normal voice mispronouncing things on purpose, or me in a burly voice doin' things just for the hell of it. I'll see if I can't record some stuff tomorrow. Any advice for building up a demo reel or suggestions as to what I'd be suited to saying would be pretty cool!

    This is the only thing I've done that's at all video game-related (in this case, battle quotes) and, obviously, "die" is way too short to base anything off of.
