USAGI's Kaduki Sprites: Mack Height!

  1. I created these actually for my project, Elements, however school has started again and progress will be a little held back. I also felt like being generous and I don't like keeping things away for personal use, I don't understand the point. So, I hope these are used for greatness in your RPG projects!

The original creator of these is, of course, Kaduki. However, the sprites he created are midgets and look awful with the height of the tilesets most RPG-ers use in their games. So, I have saved the day, haha! No more off-putting character heights with tall tilesets. Enjoy!

  2. Wow, That's pretty amazing! I won't be using it but it looks great, nice job :)
  3. Thank you. It took a lot of motivation, time and effort. ^_^
  4. OMG IT'S SUPER AWESOME :)

although i won't use it in my game, still it's super duper awesome :)

i hope you will release more

    define cool and epic :)
  5. It looks really weird with the body stretched out and blurred while the head retains its original, pixel shape.
  6. @Jawnsunn - I don't think it looks weird. It looks quite natural, actually. That is how the human body sizes are. Thanks for the feedback though. ^_^
  7. Man, I appreciate the effort and that you want to contribute to the community. However, these look horrible in terms of both appearance and consistency. Better luck next time.
  8. Well, not everyone is going to like what you create, no matter how hard you try. ^_^

I am pretty happy with myself, so thank you everyone else who like them and find them useful.
  9. You aren't getting the point buddy. You didn't "create" these, Kaduki did. All you did was simply stretch the body/lower part of the sprites until they matched Mack's sprites' height. And this is downright terrible. Not only do they look bad, but the inconsistency between their heads (which is pure pixel art) and their stretched body contributes to it too.

And I hope you do understand that those who complimented the work were just trying to be nice and not blunt because some people just want to raise up their post counts without creating too much of a drama since they know some other people can't take negative feedback.

Personally I'm starting to doubt your genuine intention of contribution. Because when you can't take a negative critical feedback, something is wrong. And I don't want to say it specifically here.

Again, I appreciate the effort, but this is just wrong, man.
  10. If you want to recreate them to mack height, stretch the body using nearest neighbor and reshade them to retain consistency.
  11. Well, for one thing critical feedback should be constructive not negative. I didn't react in a bad way at all. I've taken your advice. I'm not going to change anything. I've mentioned I'm too busy to continue my project so I am sharing the resources I made for it. I mentioned many times that Kaduki made them originally. I did stretch, and then I went over the pixels and fixed them. I'm not going to argue with you, man. So, please don't try to start something. ^_^

I wasn't exactly copying the height of Mack, it was just an example to say they were tall. :p
  12. All right then, let me rephrase what I said.

If you want to make them taller, stretch the body using nearest neighbor (so there won't be anti aliasing) and reshade them to retain consistency.

or an alternative is to brush over the heads to make them consistent or read this.
  13. That doesn't look any different to the one I made?

The tutorials seem interesting though, so I will give them a read for my future spriting. I'm not a spriter. It was just for my project and I thought I would share for whoever who wanted to use them whether they were great sprites or crappy... Thank you. :)
  14. Because I didn't edit your sprite and explaining to you what went wrong :

    THE HEAD is 9 colors

THE STRETCHED BODY is over 633 COLORS.

This makes your edits inconsistent and blurry!

    It means bad.

This kind of mindset hinders improvement. I will have to thank you for wasting my time as I was trying to give you constructive criticism. Have a good day.
  15. Alright, that communication is a bit better. I'm not a spriter, I'm a musician.

So, are you saying that the original small Kaduki sprites only have 16-32 colours and that I should use those colours and touch up the bigger ones?
  16. I think we're having a huge communication overhead here. It's not a matter of whether you are a spriter or not. This is one of the very basic principles of game art, or pixel art more specifically. You can't just have the head in pure pixel art and the rest of the sprite blurry to the point that the whole piece has 642 colors.
  17. Nessy is saying you should resize the bodies again with different settings (nearest neighbour) to get rid of the inconsistency and to keep the colors and pixels clear. After that you should look where shadows were thrown off and fix them with pencil tool with the original colors the small sprite used.

Retouching as it is won't do any good. You'd need to repixel over the resized body all over.

Good luck, if you look carefully in zoom to original sprites and use them as reference you will get much further!

    EDIT: Ninjagles~ :o
  18. So Kaduki is alright with redistributing edited sprites, but all you have done is stretching the bodies of the sprites (not even redrawing it), and in my book, this is the same as recolouring, and thus a very low and insignificant edit. Therefor, I am removing these from your original post and locking the thread.
