"Unexpected File Type" Message

  1. I have been hard at work since the beginning of summer on my first project, and I was almost done when an error message popped up. If it's important, then here's what happened prior:

My tech-illiterate friend uses my computer to play PC games. Well, one of them wasn't responding, and it wouldn't close, so I saved my project, closed RMVXA, and turned my computer off. (RMVXA was working fine before this) After a little while, I turned RMVXA back on to work on my project. But, an error screen read "Unexpected File Type" and wouldn't open it. So tried opening it again and again and again but it still said the same thing. I tried the file I used to test RMVXA and it worked fine, but not the one I had been working on for so long. If anyone can please help me, that would be great. Thanks!
  2. One or more of the files is corrupted. See for more information.
  3. Will everything like events and text be preserved?
  4. It depends on which file is corrupt. Events and Text are saved to individual map files, so even if you lost some, you most likely would not lose everything.
  5. Oh I got it. Thanks! As it turns out, only the script and common events were corrupt. I didn't use a special script, and I didn't use common events, so I just took the standard files of those that appear when you start a project. Thank you!
