So, I'm trying to figure out how to work out a Strategy game battle system similar to Fire Emblem and/or Advance Wars.
However, the difference is I don't want to use the Player/Enemy turn system, instead having each unit, player and enemy, assigned a turn number.
When combat is engaged, I want to switch to an animated scene similar-ish to Fire Emblem
Personally, I'm using the system I'm using so the player can look at the numbers and think ahead, and it's less time consuming if there are a lot of enemies on the field. I'm basing the strategy system mostly off of Final Fantasy Tactics A2 and Project X Zone.

Funny story, I literally just found that not to long ago.
I'd assume I could tweak it so it works on numbers and not a singular player/enemy turn, right? -
Probably not. It's very complex, so every little change brings bugs with it. It's not even finished, but it's your best bet for a Tactical Role Playing Game.
