Trying to make D&D maps with VX Ace.

  1. So I've had RPG Maker VX Ace for around a year now on Steam, and I've had a lot of fun using it casually. Lately, though, I've started DMing a 3.5 Edition D&D campaign on roll20, and, lacking tokens, used VX Ace's character generator and some of the default character faces for NPC faces for my little group. However, I've just been using Microsoft Paint to make world maps, which has proven to be decent at best in terms of aesthetics. I'm curious if it's possible to make a map in VX Ace, then pull the map out of the file into an image format, so I can use it as a map on roll20. Anyone know if this is possible? I apologize if I made this thread in the wrong place, I just now discovered this website while looking for some tilesets for a smaller project.
  2. You could try Tsukihime's map screenshot script (I use it sometimes when I make maps in the editor that I then decide I want to parallax or other things like that but can't easily just copy and paste into an image program) I don't really know of any other ones, but that works pretty well (the only thing is if you choose to draw events they can be slightly off)
  3. Thank you! I think this'll work. I'll test it out tomorrow when I have more brainpower as it's getting late now. I greatly appreciate the quick response, I think this should work once I get the script to work.
  4. I never though about that! I may use Ace to make Pathfinder maps for me and my friends.
  5. I was using the program's character faces and character creator to make NPC tokens, and the battler graphics as enemies. Redoing all the paint maps I made for the campaign for Ace, it's looking much better. Really helps capture the feeling I wanted.
