  1. I'm trying to import a Mack-styled sprite, but it obviously isn't working...

  2. Make sure to put a $ in front of the file name before importing.  This should put the sprite in correctly.  Also, you can use an image editor (i.e. Gimp) to remove the white background so you only get the sprite.
  3. Ah, I see. Thank you!
  4. That sprite is for XP, not Ace. Ace sprites only have 3 columns, not 4. In addition to putting $ at the start of the name, you also need to open it in an image editing program (Paint.net, GIMP, Photoshop - something that allows a transparent background, so not MS Paint), and get rid of the first column.
  5. How do I add a transparent background? I'm sorry, but this is my first time using gimp, aside from some minor tileset edits.
  6. I've been using ace for a couple months, this is just my first time using custom sprites.
  7. Doesn't it already have a transparent background? The problem with MS Paint is that if the image DOES have a transparent background already, the program will fill it in with white, as it doesn't like transparency. GIMP should be fine with it though.
  8. This image shows the transparent options at the bottom.  After remove the first column as Shaz mentioned, you can chose for white to be transparent color.  This might (most likely) affect the sprite if you have white in the sprite also.

Here is a gimp tutorial on removing background.
