Not sure how to start this, so I'll just jump right in. I downloaded VX Ace Lite onto my computer to test out some sprites I'm working on, but I can't seem to activate it. :( It continues to show the error "The request was aborted: The request was cancelled." when I try to activate it. Is there some way to fix this?

if that continues to happen even after you wait an hour, then most probably either the download was damaged or your firewall blocks the activation (if it works after waiting some time, then it was just a glitch in your internet connection).
In that case, try redownloading first and if that still is the same check your conputer's firewall settings and allow RM to pass the firewall (there is one antivirus that falsely identifies RM Ace as virus infected and blocks it) -
I've uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled the program, turned off the firewalls and tried the process again, but it still isn't working. I'm using Windows 8. Would that affect it in any way? -
you need to install it with admin rights, and set the compatibility to Win XP or Win7, but if you do this it should work OK under Win8

Okay, one final question (I hope): How do you set the compatibility? I'm tying to search for in on Google, but the results are . . . well, quite frankly, not helpful at all. @-@ I thought I had it figured out, but whatever I did didn't seem to work, as I'm still getting the same error message.you need to install it with admin rights, and set the compatibility to Win XP or Win7, but if you do this it should work OK under Win8

Right-click the editor and game.exe, Compatibility is one of the options in program properties

Ah . . . That's what I did, and it still didn't work . . . I've gone through every option in the Troubleshooter that pops up and tries to "help", and nothing seems to be helping . . . O~ORight-click the editor and game.exe, Compatibility is one of the options in program properties
Think hitting it with a hammer might help? -
