I've been a big fan of Nihon Falcom, the Ys series as well as the Kiseki series, even though I don't speak Japanese myself. It just came out on Steam yesterday and already seems to be doing well now. I see a lot of my friends have picked it up since its release, and you have no idea how happy I am right now. Sure the game came out in the West on PSP back in 2010, but at the time due to various reasons, it didn't really stand out in the market and that posed a very big financial blockade for XSEED that delayed their decision in whether or not they should keep up with the series. Thankfully, Ys series eventually came out on Steam and in a sense helped introduce Nihon Falcom to the big Western market, opening the way for Trails in the Sky to make a stance.
The second game of the Trails in The Sky trilogy is estimated to come out this winter, according to XSEED, and I really can't wait to get my hands on it.
Did any of you guys know about the game before and/or pick it up on Steam yesterday?

I knew about it, and have been waiting for it. While I haven't picked it up yet, I plan to pick it up this weekend.
-
Just bought it this morning :D
-
It's my Favorite PSP game, I really can't wait for part 2 to be localized.
-
Just tried a bit, and got crash when use Tactic command in Main Menu orz
-
Yeah it's full of crashes right now unfortunately. I suppose I'll have to be patient and wait for bugfixing patches from them.

I've had it stall downloading and it restarted several times this morning due to requiring an update. This took around several tries in getting to 1 gig only to have it start over from 200 and 700 megs. I just got it working a few hours ago. Then it patched again. So they are on top of the bugs. Right now the only functioning bug in the game is that you can open Joshua's slot when they ask you to do Estelle's, and the game will correct the action and give the open slot to her for the orbments.
It was highly recommended to my by a friend. So I am giving it all the space I gave Legend of Agarest port, that unfortunately didn't fair well past the first age. I'll see after a few more streams what the general consensus is along with my own review I'll be writing on site. I really want more console and hand helds to get ported to PC, so I am open to whatever we do get.
Tactic commands, etc did not crash my game play. So things are looking on the up and up. LoA took a week before it was in a functioning state to play, so it was a much better release than what I was expecting.
EDIT: Another 2.7 meg patch just came through. Looks like a total of a dozen or so small patches in all on launch day. -
The second game... This is the only game I want to play, even I must fix my broken PSP. :) And, probably the last PSP game for me.
unfortunately, I played the other Legend of Heroes games, but it's not really good, to be honest. -
I have it for PSP and I must say, this is a rather nice surprise! Glad to see it on Steam for the PC.

I really really want to get the game but I can't spend my money on that now! :*(

While I enjoyed the story, The game play and all the mechanics kind of just seemed to be a ploy for the story. I never really had much fun, or felt any real challenge in the combat, and like a lot of JRPGs the map was pretty much linear. I still haven't finished it all the way through....my psp broke, but I do want to finish it. Would have rather it been a manga though haha
