The barber and the surgeon have the same profession in terms of cutting humans.
I heard barber pole means red and blue blood and white bandage.

White is the towel/bandage, Blue the blade and red the blood (since it is hard to have an even skin surface to shave with a straight razor. ^^ LOL )
