Legend has it that 9000 miles to the South, away from the land of RPG Maker Web, lies a mysterious island of art. Buried somewhere on this mystical island is a treasure chest that, once opened, will grant its conqueror a prodigious prize that all RM users have been yearning for since the beginning of time. But alas, no prize ever comes unpaid. In order to reach this treasure chest, one must struggle through the greatest and most rigorous ordeal of their artistic life, in what the legend refers to as, The Tomb of the Lost Art. When, and only when, one has overcome a hundred artistic challenges, will they be shown with the Light of Guidance, which will lead them to the treasure chest, and also the end of their long winded suffering. Many aspiring creative workers have set their foot onto this island, and none of which has ever been seen or heard of again.

A map of the Tomb itself has been passed down from generations to generations, and is said to be drawn (written) by none other than the first adventurer ever to conquer the ordeal, Don Miguel.

    • Participants are to complete all 100 themes in order to win this challenge. However, participants are free to take however long they want or need to.
    • Entries are not expected to be done completely from scratch, but a considerable amount of effort is obviously still required. Be fair, honest and give credits where it's due.
    • All forms of art are welcome. Your submissions don't have to be all in one art form. Themes can be interpreted in any way you like, and you can use any artistic medium you deem fit for conveying your interpretation.
    • Participants are to register here in this thread and I will make a thread for each participant where their status is shown and updated. Entries from each participant will be submitted to their respective thread. Everyone is welcome to comment on entries and encourage participants in those threads.
    • Participants can complete the themes in any order, except for the Introduction and Endings. Introduction must be done first, and Endings must be done last.
    • Participants are not allowed to tackle more than one theme with one single entry. This is to avoid cheating by adding all of the themes randomly into one entry. That's against the spirit of this challenge.
    • Each entry must be worth at least one hour of work. In the case an entry looks too suspiciously effortless, I reserve the right to deny it.
    • Participants are to follow the rules imposed by the challenge/theme. Any questions may be asked. However, I reserve the right to disqualify any entries that I feel do not meet the criterion.

  2. I'm sorry, I'm confused a bit. So the words on The Great Ordeal we draw pictures of...?
  3. Those are the themes.

  4. So, would the topic/inspiration of each piece be those listed on that image (that I can't see well enough to read o-o)?

    1. Also, if I wanted to completely redo some old artwork and music, would that be alright?

    2. Do we have to go in order?
  5. Yes those are all themes that you will interpret in your own way and make something for. And yes, remastering old stuff is allowed too.

Gonna add a note to the rules - participants can complete the themes in any order, except for the Introduction and Endings. Introduction must be done first and Endings must be done last.

Guys, please make sure you read the rules first before starting. Ask me if you have any questions at all.
  6. Count me IN on this thing! =D
  7. Welcome to the island of art, good sir. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Your progress thread will arrive shortly.
  8. Ok, I have one more question before requesting a thread. Do these works have to create a cohesive "story" or "narrative"  or, is this quite literally, 100 art challenges?
  9. Ok. Ok. Sign me up! I need the practice!

I have no idea how I'm going to do it. but I will!
  10. I am going join.....

Though when we submit to our thread do we just comment with a new image each time? Basically how do we turn in each entry. Also can an image include words or a description with them? For example if I did something like a narrative or some what put together them I may want to describe something that is happening or give characters in image names.
  11. This looks awesome. If I can acquire the right tools to allow me to create decent art, then i'll join. But until that time i'm just a spectator. I've just posted a topic to help me find out the right tools to acquire, hopefully someone will answer.

Just post whatever it is in your thread and say which theme it is you're doing. There's no rules in how or what you're expected to submit. The point of this is to give you a list of interesting themes for you to practice your art and interpretation skills with :)  so are you joining?
  13. Oh, oh. Ok. The whole "Legend" and "Ordeal" things just threw me off a little bit. I am pretty direct. But sure. Sign me up!
  14. Why not. Drawing 100 things can't hurt my art skills, can it? Sign me up!

  15. I will undertake this challenge! Sounds like a lot of fun.

One quick question: can two of the prompts be combined in one picture/work if the work reflects effort and complexity enough for both?

To keep things fair, I'm afraid not.
  17. I won't be able to start until around the middle of August, but I am -so in-
  18. Please count me in! Just a question, entry should be a "story" or drawing?
  19. Hmmmm - Oh, sure, why not? I'll join in!
  20. Ok thanks, I'm in, sign me up as well! :D
