  1.   Hello everyone. I am trying to move from my main map to an underground catacombs area and I am having trouble with the tinting. I've tried running it as a parralel and auto run process after arriving on the new map but neither way is working. I added the commands to change the tint and erase event with nothing else. No luck.

I also tried fade out, transfer, tint screen, fade in in that order and still no luck. Nothing I have done is tinting the screen. I've read a bunch of tutorials with no luck. Maybe someone here has a suggestion?

    Spoiler
  2. Why are you tinting the picture? Shouldn't you be tinting the screen?

You don't really need the fadeout/fadein - the Transfer Player command does that automatically.

Just add a parallel process event to the catacombs map that has 2 commands: Tint Screen in 0 frames (or 1 frame if you can't do 0), Erase Event.
  3. ^ Pretty much this.  Also, just so you know VX Ace has a built-in map naming dealy. On your maps in the editor, see "Display name" on the maps? Name that whatever the name is of your map, and that's how it'll appear ingame. This way you don't need the clunky fade out and fade in. Unless... you somehow are playing with tinting to make the screen appear tinted as you fade in.
  4. You really want the "Tint Screen" function, not the "Tint Picture" one.  The latter does something completely different --- it applies the Tint to one of the pictures in the database.
  5. Oh. I didn't realize there were 2 different tint options. And I know there is the default naming option. I'm using the default for the majority of maps but for the main dungeons I want the screen to fade out, then the name of the dungeon appears on screen and nothing else, then fade back in to the dungeon. I'm on my phone now but I will fix my tint later today. Thanks everyone!
  6. Great! That works. It was staring at me the whole time. I got the dark effect inside the dungeon but now I want the lights to actually light an area. I have the flicker effect and have given them small auras of light bit it doesn't actually light the area. It's tinted just like everything else. Is there a way to fix that without scripting or paralax mapping? I'm just starting so I would like to save the advanced stuff like that until I get the basics down. Thanks!
  7. Psst... Just so you know, double-posting is frowned upon here... :) It's better just to edit your original post with new information. :D Otherwise mods will BLUE LINE you. It's a kind of verbal warning and it's pretty intimidating. :p

But um.... I don't think so....?   Fortunately with scripts, it's not too hard to install, most tell you how to install 'em. I'm sure you'll find whatever scripts you need if you poke around a bit. :) Just be sure to read their terms of use; they vary from scripter to scripter. :)
  8. Thanks for the heads up!! I think I found a work around though. I will just tint the tileset in Photoshop and switch it out with the original tileset for that specific map area. PROBLEM SOLVED! I think this thread can be closed now. Thanks everyone for the help!
