    A game of life and death, where all that matters is on the line...
    Will you turn the clock back once more?

    DS72IrO.png
    Galaka Academy is the most prestigious school that exists in the country of Aldebaran. Only the best of the best are chosen to attend, as the great academy only allows for less than a hundred students every year. These students are trained to protect their world to their dying breath; at the image of the legendary Heroes of Galaka, who saved the world from a fearsome beast so many years ago.
    Within this academy we meet Bee, who seems to be a run-of-the-mill girl; that is, if she wasn't attending a school for the most powerful. Despite her scatterbrain looks, Bee is a genius with a fearsome mind and even more fearsome friends. She managed to join together the most insane group one can manage, and she lives happy with them. And yet, tragedy prepares to strike... As so many years ago, the looming shadow of a powerful monster roams above Galaka.

    This game is a sort of hybrid between RPG and Visual Novel. While it is RPG-styled, it takes great impact in its plot.
    The game mainly consists of following the events of Bee's second year at Galaka, from the beginning to its end... reliving them until that end is considered suitable.

    Features:

    • Quests and character interaction change depending on timeline
    • Parallax mapping

    The country of Aldebaran is a peaceful one. It has not waged war for two thousand years, since the great War with the Dragons, which led to the construction of what currently is Galaka Academy.
    The Academy is an extremely prestigious school that many dream to attend. It is divided in six factions, all with a different weapon;
    The brave are in Knight, faction of the sword;
    The strong are in Sprout, faction of the axe;
    The nimble are in Fleur, faction of the rapier;
    The lucky are in Diamond, faction of the musket;
    The willful are in Arc, faction of the bow;
    And of all, the rarest are those gifted with magic; they are in Maga, faction of the staff.

    Spoiler
    6OIMTwj.png
    A scatterbrained girl with a burning passion for her friends.
    Despite her sloppy looks, she is actually the student with the best grades in the whole school.

    Rika
    Spoiler
    RX07M4E.png
    Bee's best friend. She's a sweet, caring girl who wouldn't hurt a fly.
    ...Unless that fly was Bee, of course. She adores Haruka.

    Carol
    Spoiler
    t3ABR1j.png
    A girl with a spectacular agility. Seeing her battle is like watching a ballet show.
    She's known Haruka for many years.

    Ashley
    Spoiler
    Dx0bHS6.png
    An amazing fighter, and the top fighter of Knight. However, everyone hates him.
    He's so full of himself, it's hard to even stand next to him.

    Jinta
    Spoiler
    5LwB4mN.png
    A mysterious boy. He's the school's best fighter, but his techniques are shrouded in mystery.
    Bee used to have a crush on him, but he rejected her.

    Haruka
    Spoiler
    7PkjRQu.png
    A reserved, yet gentle, boy. He's extremely nice to everyone, but very opinionated.
    Because of this, Bee tends to say nothing but jokes around him.

  2. Wow! I really like the artwork for the actor graphic, did you draw them?
  3. Yes, I did! Thank you!
  4. Bump! I'd sincerely appreciate some feedback on my demo!
  5. I played through the demo and ran into a couple bugs:

    When looking for Haruka and you arrive at the crowded hallway, going into any of the doors leads to an error saying I'm missing "rikanormal" i believe. After the Haruka scene in the Library, when you leave that room and head left past the stairs, then up the hallway, the last door at the end of the hallway (on the left), takes me to a room that I can't leave. I'm assuming thats a Dorm room, but entering it before you're supposed to, enters a later event where it's "too late to leave" and I just went to sleep and the demo was over. But I went back and did what I was meant to do so that I didn't miss anything. One thing I noticed but wasn't sure if it was a bug or not, was that Rika and Haruka have a whole lot more HP than the other characters.

    About the overall demo, I'm interested in where the story goes. The characters are likeable and it's in a pretty cool setting. The demo was pretty short so I don't have much more than that. I was wondering if there was going to be any focus on combat at some point in the game, considering the students are arranged by weapons and some characters have "Melee" Skills in their skill tab.
  6. Production values are good; I can tell you put a lot of effort into it. The custom busts for each character are nice. There were a few errors as noted, but that's pretty much a given.

    I found the dialogue a bit campy, especially when the characters sit around talking about the most mundane topics (like food, and shampoo?). I understand you were going for a carefree atmosphere, but the characters seem too happy-go-lucky for being elite students in a prestigious academy. That's fine though, since there's plenty of room for character development.

    Also, mixing English names with Japanese seems a bit odd to me considering the game takes place in one fictional country, but that's a pretty minor nitpick.
  7. This looks gorgeous! And those busts are so beautiful! Your style is just... aright... AMAZING!
  8. Thanks for your feedback, guys! I'll make sure to fix those bugs in the next version I release.

    And about the happy-go-lucky thing: I'm trying to portray their lives as a peaceful and happy thing, for contrast with the events further in!

    As for the HP, it's just because I started fixing the classes but then left it halfway done; I'll go back to it soon.

    And yes, the game will have combat! I'm still trying to find a combat system that I like, but it won't be the major focus in the game.

    About the names; I mainly just picked names that I liked and thought fit the characters. I didn't really bother with their origin.

    Also, thank you for your praise of my graphics! It's my strongest point so I'm trying to keep it up.

    I'm currently trying to make a decision for the game's first dungeon... maze... thing. I wanted to make it a forest with a fairy/dreamlike look, so I'm applying a filter to my graphics. I'm not sure about the colors, though; how does this look? (Sorry about the rough edges; this was just a tester map I had lying around so I didn't bother much.)

    This looks really cool! :D I love the colors you used so much and can't wait to see finished. :D Filtering = a great choice!
  10. Great work so far, dragoncookie. I loved the artwork of the characters you've done.

    Their dialogues and banter was quite fun, I'm curious to see more of the game.

    One thing I noticed is that your areas don't have automatic transition, perhaps it would feel more natural to walk into the hallway and automatically change to the next screen, instead of having to click.
    Your maps are very well done, by the way, good job!

    Thanks for sharing the quick, but fun demo :)
  11. Hello!

    This looks like a game I could really get into :) Here are my notes...

    First impressions
    Like the title screen
    Like the logo a lot. [infinity symbol, yeah!]
    Interesting music style.
    Reminds me a lot of the final fantasy tactics game in a good way.

    Minor comments
    Some of the dialogue could be phrased a bit better. 'The school was formed to be as protective as possble' - this doesn't make much sense unfortunately.
    Pressing enter to teleport is a little strange.
    Can't enter the map on the right of the courtyard
    Really love the pond in the courtyard
    Magic is banned from theoric classes - That's quite funny.

    Other comments

    I am unconvinced by the sudden hatred of the knight character and feel quite sorry for him.

    The game is very engrossing and I am looking forward to playing an updated demo!

    I hope this is useful. Feel free to PM me if you update the demo - I'd love to play again.

    Hmm... Maybe something like 'The students are trained to be the best to protect the nation', or 'The school was formed to protect the country as much as possible' would work better?

    I'll fix the teleport issue on the next demo! I probably won't make an update only to fix those bugs, since none of them are exactly game-breaking bugs, so I'll just update when I have more to show!

    And what map do you mean? The right classroom hallway, the one with the red flags?

    Also, you just haven't heard him talk enough yet! :p

    I'll do my best to work on this during this weekend; meanwhile, have this bunch of doodles I made to practice a new art style.
