Tile surrounds issue

  1. Hi there.

I'm a newbie, and just trying to figure out how tiles work. I'm getting this problem with some tiles not reacting to certain other tiles the way they should, and you get this jarring clash between two tile types. Here's a screenshot to show what I mean.

The tileset options are all set correctly, I think. The A1 group are in the A1 slot, etc.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    GC

  2. If the autotiles won't do as you want them to, you can always shift-rightclick a tile to copy it as it is and shift-leftclick to paste it without triggering the autotiles.
  3. What you see is the visible effect of the autotile function. That function is intended to help with filling large, irregular areas and automatically adding borders to it - but in some cases these borders are unwanted, and you need to override the autofunction when making your map.

That is what the poster above means when he's talking about shift-click mapping, but depending on what exactly you want to display there are four different ways of placing autotiles with shift-click mapping.

I suggest you follow the link in my signature, and look in that tutorial until you find the link guiding you to a shift-click mapping tutorial. That should be able to help you find the correct combination of shift for your map.
  4. You guys are very nice. Thanks for the information, I'm going to dive right in :)
