Tile passability difficulties

  1. Hello all. I am having some slight problems regarding setting a certain tile to solid, so that it can't be passed through

It's the tile I have circled in the below picture. The tileset for that particular map is one I've created myself (i.e. not Field, Interior, Exterior or Dungeon)

I have set it to X in the database, as per below, but it's still letting the character walk across it when I play the game. Is there something I've missed?

    Many thanks for your help.
  2. The first tile on the B tab has to be set to star, or it will mess up all passabilities in that tileset.

Follow the link in my signature and scroll down to the tips there to learn more about that.
  3. Thank you. That has fixed my problem, although I don't quite understand why. Many thanks for your help.
  4. The first B tile is the tile that automatically fills all upper-layer-positions on the map, that's why it needs to be transparent and set to star.

Star basically means "use passability of lower map layer" (and also display non-transparent tiles above the player).

If you set the first B-Tile to o, then everything that has nothing from B-E placed on it will become passable, if the first B-Tile is x, then everything without a B-R-Tile on it will become impassable.

It's one of the quirks createdby the way maps were made, you have to know that - and the tips I mentioned in my post above from my tutorial also contain the other quirks of the engine...
