  1. Hello all! Thanks for checking out my game!

The Oni Sellsword is a short, free game (about 1.5 to 3 hours at most) that is available now!

    Download it on Steam:

WARNING: This game contains some brief, vulgar language and implied sexual content. Recommended for teens and up.

    Engine: RPG Maker MV

Synopsis: A princess has gone missing and who should answer the call? Why, Xavienne- the snarky oni from another world- of course! Who did you expect? She'll gather two of her "buddies" and journey to hell and back to save her best friend. A simple game and a simple twist with tactical combat and a plot driven by unique characters.

This game was created with some help from the RPG Maker community! If you like my game, stay tuned as work is already under way for my next game. That one will require more recruiting and will provide more exciting opportunities as it will be a bigger, paid project!
  2. Woooo... You putted it on Steam for free??? Hope they don't charge for free games! :3
  3. @Marquise*

Hehe, yes, free games still have to go through the same submission process as everyone else; that includes the fee. I'm actually very fine paying that since it's so low.

By the way, right now I'm working on getting the Mac build verified. But I welcome any comments or discussion on the game. Hope to see more pour in once the game is out!
  4. *cybermental hugs* Hope it gets more than 100 best reviews so it give you an as generous publicity! ;)
  5. Super cool. I'm installing it right now. Nice work on completing a game. The art looks nice too.
  6. Thanks! The artwork was commissioned, though. I've been passing along the praise he's been getting :thumbsup-left:

Steam has been a really good outlet, too; getting a steady stream of downloads every day! I wonder if the RM community is put off by it, though. They only represent maybe 10% of the downloads I get *shrug*

Also, the Mac version is proving more troubling than I predicted. I may need to poke around these forums for advice on these things.

People on Steam don't care so much about you using RTP stuff. Here, custom graphics wow people more often. Maybe more of a description of what's in the game or a feature list would help?
  8. Oh. I more meant like, distribution. Like if are people put off by Steam or something.

I could spruce up that first post some, but I felt like putting that much info would be overkill, you know? Like it's ultimately really simple. The game isn't really impressive in terms of like, scale or tech. And I get that that is the kind of wow-factor that RM community maybe wants to see when poking around these parts. I'm more reliant on just writing type stuff: concise, clean story with good characters and dialogue. And hoping that the fundamentals are solid enough that it's just like... a good game, you know? ;)
  9. GREAT game!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add SOME SORT of way to pay for this game! :)
Maybe you could open a patreon and add a splash screen advertising it in front of your game?

Also, has the only marketing for your game been adding to steam and posting here? Have you done anything else?
  10. @hp4000
Hehe, thanks! Really glad you like it! I'm not sure about the Patreon thing. It doesn't sit right with me, for some reason. But don't worry, the next game I do will not be free ;) (although it will be cheap! And also much bigger!)

Admittedly I don't think I have the best grasp on marketing, but I have used the Curator Connect feature that Steam has and that seems to have done me quite well (I've already got a few thousand downloads). I'm also planning to do a little patch sometime in the future, alongside the Mac version. That should hopefully prove to be something of a second round of marketing. Suffice it to say I could use any advice I could get on the topic ^_^

Cant wait to see what's next! Keep up the great work!
  12. Your characters are beautiful
  13. @Gianmher
Thanks! The art was done by Alnicoism (alnico-ism.deviantart.com), though.

He did pretty good with my rambling descriptions of the characters, and made them look even better than I envisioned in my head. I'll pass along the praise he earned :thumbsup-right:
  14. I loved this. The art by Alnicoism is excellent. The game was a short and sweet experience. The characters and world were interesting and a Yuri ending to wrap it up nicely!
I'm looking forward to whatever you next project turns out to be!
  15. @YuriGoddess Thanks! He gets all the love, hehe. Luckily I have him for the next one, too.

I'll get the promotional stuff started sooner this time around. So I should have something to show around January. Of course, I'll be hunting around these forums for helpers (probably do paid commissions, like I've done/am doing with the art) before then if you're interested in that kind of stuff ;)
  16. Now above 10,000 downloads ^_^

Working on some stuff for the next one. Is it safe to bump this thread with that info? I plan on linking to the thread that will be made for that one in the appropriate forum. Hopefully recruiting can start in November!
  17. Just downloaded the game! Will post a critique when I finish!
