  1. The Eternal Sands follows the story of a young man who wakes up in a strange world known as Arenae. Him and everyone around him can't remember a thing from before they came to be here.

The city he wakes up in - Sundas - is a cesspool of criminal activity. Even the most peaceful of districts have a lot of crime, yet no-one ever leaves because they simply have nowhere else to go. It is a well accepted belief that the desert outside of Sundas never ends, so most call it the Eternal Sands.

After a while of living in the Song district, our protagonist finds himself getting involved with one of Sundas' many gangs. As if that's not bad enough, he finds other, more mysterious, forces lurking in Sundas' shadows.

    Gameplay

    Spoiler
For now gameplay is pretty much the standard that you'll find in any RPG. You talk to npc's and fight enemies to progress the story. This is very much a work in progress, so for now there isn't a whole lot to see.

Later on in development, I am hoping to make things a bit more interesting. I'm wanting to add a day and night system, make all of Sundas explorable, and most importantly of all progress the story. I've held off on naming characters not in the story yet, but an antagonist will be making an appearance. Other important characters will be added too, including a love interest.

    Screenshots

    Spoiler
For now, there really just isn't a lot to see. Nonetheless, here are the three screenshots as expected:

    Credits

    Spoiler
Right now I'm only using Yanfly's for scripts. As for tilesets and icons, the ones I'm using can be found at the following links:

The story itself is based on a story I've been writing for a while now.

    Help needed

    Spoiler
-If anyone knows how to use enemy sprites using Yanfly's engine, I'd appreciate it. I can't get Victor's to play nicely with Yanfly.

-Desert tilesets, sprites, or graphics are always welcomed. I'm wanting the different districts to look... well, different.

-I especially need a new title graphic. My current one doesn't fit.
  2. I hate to say it, but it was pretty "meh."

Here are some points to take into consideration.

-You should show the speaker names in the text boxes so the player doesn't get overwhelmed when they meet a bunch of new characters in succession.

-Allistair walked into a table during a cutscene. I don't think that was intentional.

-You shouldn't have a dialogue prompt when there's only one response available.

-The book is usable but doesn't do anything.

-The protagonist's hair seems to not be attached to his head.

-You should download a font fix  script, seeing a bunch of squares in the text boxes is really strange.

-When you choose not to sleep, it makes you able to walk through walls.

-Katalia is in a cutscene before she is formally introduced.

-You should probably organize your iconset, i'm pretty sure apples do not make good body armour...

if it sounds like I'm being harsh, it's because I see the potential for a good game here and It won't come to fruition If I just praise everything.
  3. Thanks for the feedback. I don't have the hang of rpg maker just yet, so constructive criticism is exactly what I want.

I'm going to work on all the things you mentioned, but what do you mean by his hair isn't attached to his head?
  4. I mean that when he walks around you can see it shifting unnaturally
  5. Going to post my response and only going to include things that DITR has not already mentioned:

    Spoiler
In addition to playing out your conversation with Senex, when you enter into the outer room it also seems like it plays out a cutscene from after you have already met Alistair.   I'm assuming it is not supposed to do that.  Although now that I look again, DITR mentioned this, too, but oh well.   The other thing worth mentioning there, is that because of that if you happen to go out the bottom exit of the door instead of the top part of the carpet, you break that cutscene and cannot go any further in the game.
When you go to the pub and accept a job to "bash in" the skulls of two guys, when they show up they walk up to a customer but absolutely nothing happens.   Game just sits there.
At this point I cannot go any further in the game thanks to the second issue.   I really like the idea for your story, but there are a number of things that need to be fixed.    I hope to see more.
