  1. introduction: a sequel to the classic fps rpg System shock from 1994 made using rpgmaker xp and first person labyrinth explorer
    Genre: First-Person non-Linear science fiction horror
    Engine: RMXP, and FPLE : First Person Labyrinth Explorer

    Story: absolutely everything about the plot is still very early in development I am discussing it with the writer as we speak so I am not really confident in laying out any plot details just yet.

    Game Synopsis: system shock trinity is my attempt to create a hybrid of system shock a classic pc fps and a traditional JRPG taking the exploration of ss1 and the cybernetic upgrades of ss2 and the turn based combat of console jrpg.

  2. Have to say, as a big fan of the System Shock games, I'm very curious to see how this will turn out.  I hope you don't run into engine limitations this time around like you did with the Rocket Knight project :)

Actually, if you were to move this project to another engine called GZ Doom Builder, I know a bunch of ACS that could make something like this work without limitations because the engine is dedicated to stuff like this. But seeing as this is RPG Maker Web, I don't think you'd be able to host it here. Trust me, I was was a big fan of games like this especially the doom franchise. :) I'll be looking out for this project from time to time.
  4. oh you remember my rocket knight game Scythuz yeah that was pretty heart breaking but at least I got a demo out of it hopefully this will be my first successful project fingers crossed

    do you really think any version of the doom engine could do something like system shock? one of the reasons I choose this engine is because of it's ease of use it already comes with all the rpg functions like items' exp and equitable armor and so on I have played a ton of Doom mods and I have never seen anything capable of doing the stuff system shock can do not mention i would have to learn a complete new engine and start from scratch after i just spent a month importing system shock sprites into rpgmaker no while I really do appreciate your offer I will stick with rpg maker

  5. Well I've never played any of the system shock games so I wouldn't really know. But It's done impressive things is all I'm saying. Ha ha But yeah RM is probably your better choice sense your mostly comfortable with it.


  6. well I had been working hard on creating a demo for Christmas just so everyone could play it and tell me what they think and what they would like me to change but unfortunately I have come across a big problem if you walk directly into a enemy it can sometimes make rpg maker crash I have asked around different forums for a solution to this problem and they say since it does not give a error message but instead the crash is happening in the FPLE.dll which is impossible to fix without its source code so fudge. :(

    now a way to work around this would be to use random battles something I had REALLY not wanted to do but I just don't think I have much of a choice

    as I work on the game the one aspect I am finding the hardest to put together is probably the most important the combat trying to create fun battles with one character is tricky since in a normal rpg you would have one character be the magic user and one would be the tank and so on and at the moment the combat does tend to consist mostly of the player firing his weapon at the foes and not really using his psi ability's (spells) so I am going to focus on improving the combat. once I am happy with the combat and have finished level 1 of the space station I will release a demo the demo will have audio clips from the original system shock pc game and won't incorporate any of the new plot ideas myself and my friend the author of the games story have come up with if the demo is a success and people like it then we will get to work on the full game

  9. Right sorry for not posted anything in forever since I came down with a killer case of the flu well now i am well again I am ready to finish the demo I have the whole week off from work so I can sit down and get this done.

  10. I have to say, even if it is buggy as hell it's impressive that you've gotten this much to work on the RGSS engine  :unsure:

    If you think you can complete it, I'd say go for broke! 

    And maybe use some punctuation too. No offense meant, but run-on paragraphs are difficult to read x-x
  11. Well thank you, and duly noted about the grammar you won't have to worry too much about it in the game since I am not the one writing the plot, but I will take more care when I post on forums in the future.
    Here is a screen shot of a sprite I made of an upgrade station from system shock 2.

  12. The demo is the whole first level of the game plus a little bit of level 2 and 3 it has 9 weapons 2 of which are secret and 12 psi ability's you can learn by collecting cybernetic modules.

    Here are some tips on getting through the demo.

    1. Some weapons hurt robots far more than organic targets and vice versa, so figure out what does what and equip the appropriate weapon
    2. Invest in psi shield than can half the damage of specific types of attack
    3. All enemy attacks come in one of 4 types Physical, Ballistic, Energy and PSI 
    4. Certain areas are more likely to have certain foes so if a room always spawns mutant use an appropriate weapon
    5. Any junk you find in your travels can be sold in the store for Nanites which you can then spend on ammo
    6. Don't forget your items a flash grenade at just the right time can save you life
