Suggestions for my game?

  1. I've been playing around with the free version after seeing this on steam, and although I like the program, I don't make alot of money to really buy what all I'll need to make an actual marketable game. I'm a game design enthusiast, and although I don't have squat for coding knowledge, I'm more than willing to take the time to learn. Right now, though, I need some help.

   I've been working on a storyline for a genre arc that started out as a two-book set in my head, but if I'm to do either of these ideas, I want to be able to make my own graphics, sprites, and tiles for them. I have looked at several of the forums, and although I'm so stupid I can't make heads nor tails of what everyone's saying (I prefer things laid out. #SimpleMinded), I'm more than persistant enough to make them, since I know my idea is marketable as either a game or a book series. *currently doing both, haha!*

    Here's what I'm asking:

    1. Since I'm buying this for my steam account later this or next week, what would be a good graphics/editor for me to look around for that's free, I want it so I can easily make Tiles and streamline them together without having to forcefully line them together in something like Photoshop.

    2. Scripts. I can't figure out how to add them in, do I just copy/paste them in, or is there some specific way to add them?

    3. Is there a way to get ahold of more of those face graphics for some of the monsters? I was wanting to grab one for a Succubus boss I was adding in, but since they didn't have it, and I suck at drawing, I sure didn't end up adding any more details to the event.

Also, can you guys fix the tab button with this stupid post thingy? I backpaged three times while writing this, and I had to rewrite everything, ;_; . Quick responses are a hopeful, although I'll get to these after work. Thanks for any help given!
  2. 1) GIMP is free, but it's in the same level as photoshop. There are no specific graphic programs that work everything for you.

The Game Character Hub (also available on this site and on steam) helps for part of the resources, but not for everything - and it isn't free.

    2) Basically copy&paste with a few specific configurations. All scripts usually begin with comments that tell you where in the script editor to copy it into, and how to configure it after it has been copied into the project.

Configuring is mostly reading to the beginning of the script and editing the settings there inside the script editor, then placing the required notetags and/or script calls (if any) in the database or maps of the game

    3) there are a lot of free resources available, search this forum for a post by Grandmadeb and follow the links in her signature
  3. Alright, wiill do!
